Very nice avenger79. Tweeds were here yesterday, they are here today, and I have no doubt they will be here tomorrow.

Enjoy your Fender Blues Junior. :D

I just ordered a classic player 50s Strat. My #1 ride is an EJ Strat & there's just nothing better than that soft V neck. Hoping for that same feeling from this one so I don't have to pack around a $2000 axe everywhere. I know it's a MIM, but I own 3 teles(American special, MIJ Jerry Donahue, & a MIM) & the Mexican just sounds fantastic. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I don't know if this counts as a "purchase" but I ground scored a Furman PQ3 rackmount parametric EQ on the way to work this morning. I haven't gotten a chance to see if it works but it should be interesting to find out.

Your 50’s Strat will be a fun and sensible addition with it’s own mojo, SEGaunt. Enjoy!

Nice grab on the popular American made Furman, Rev’. I hope it meets the vibe. :D

Thanks, I got it home and plugged it in. It started to vibrate a little I turned on the EQ and the led came on. I plugged it in to the front of my amp this morning for the test. The pots were a little scratchy and the midrange controls didn't work at all but since the rest of it worked with the occasional intermittent drop out that got fixed by turning the EQ on and off I suspect that it just needs some TLC and that some of the connections are bad. I plan on finding a shop near me that will repair it which shouldn't be hard since Furman is based in SF. Anyway as is it sounds good through the front end of a 20 watt Crate practice amp and seeing as I found it on the street it's not like I'm losing money on it.

Found it on the street? Can’t go wrong with that. You’ll want it working well though. I’m no expert in the workings of the Furman, but my guess is that you wouldn’t want a bad signal going into the amp or a hazard for the speaker. I dunno, but I’m sure others do.

Regardless, you got the right idea by getting it checked out. Hope it works out good for ya. Looks like you’re off to a good start :D

Yeah, I was walking to work and saw a piece of rack gear lying on the ground and picked it up. I knew Furman was a good company. While I was at work I googled it and found out about the company and how it was founded by the woman who designed the preamp circuits for Alembic. There were green face ones which are the really sought after ones, black face ones which is what I found , and black face reissues. The reissues have a jack in the front. They were discontinued for a bit then reissued in the late 90's due to Dimebag Darryl from Pantera using and swearing by them. I also remember Billy Sheehan using one in his bass rig, and reading about Bob Weir using one in his rig.

I didn’t know about Alembic. Thanks, for that history. I checked them out. Some pretty outa the box funk going on there. I knew about Dimebag, Sheehan, and Weir’s association with the Furman. Now you are in that lineup. Cool. :D
Cheers!

Yeah and mine has a cool story associated with it. Incidentally I was looking for a parametric eq anyway.

I just wanted to add that even in the condition it's in it still has a great combination of warmth and clarity. It's nice to hear the detail in the chorus pedal that I never shut off.

I finally got around to doing that pickup swap I spoke of a few weeks ago.
Complete gut and rewire; everything including the switch, jack, pots and pups.
It all works great including the push/pull pots for coil tapping.
The switch is missing the black knob because the stock Ric switch uses a long bat and this is a standard (Switchcraft) Gibson style switch with a short bat.
I'll pick up a knob for it tomorrow.

I've only spent about 5 minutes or so with it, just to confirm it all works but my first impression is I am going to like this guitar even better.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
