With the purchase of the Squier Bass VI and the Stratocaster XII, I believe I'm done buying guitars. My little condo has trouble enough holding my 12 guitars, two basses and four amps, though, I'm considering buying a Roland JC-22 stereo amp. Fender hasn't made a stereo amplifier in many years.

Now I've gone down the guitar pedal rabbit hole. This year alone I've picked up a Boss Dynamic Wah, a DOD Gonkulator, a DOD Gunslinger, a Vick Audio 1861 Civil War-style muff arrived Friday and I have a Mooer Slow Engine auto swell pedal in trans, my first foray into mini Chinese pedals. Also, I won a Malekko Charlie Foxtrot pedal in one of those weekly eZine contests! This brings my pedal inventory dangerously close to 40 units . . . and I'm looking at others.

Help!

How do you like the Wah and the Gonkulator?

I have about 20 pedals, and I'm constantly looking at more. Right now I'm trying to talk myself out of a Foxx Tone Machine clone because I already have Dano French Toast, which has the exact same circuit.

Since last X-mas, I've bought a DOD Carcosa fuzz, a DOD Boneshaker (which was on sale for $40), and a Joyo Classic Flanger. These days I usually only buy during holiday sales.

I began a foray into the world of boutique pedals during the Black Friday sales of 2016, when I picked up a Red Witch Fuzz God II and a Black Arts Toneworks LSTR. Red Witch had an astonishing 40% off sale, so I just couldn't resist the Fuzz God. Last year I bought a FuzzHugger Algal Bloom and a FuzzHugger VelcroBot. Boutique pedals are amazing, and the lifetime warranties give me a lot of comfort.

I did buy something else over Memorial Day, but that will require its own thread eventually.

I'm trying to do more neo-Psychedelia these days. I thought the Dyn Wah and the Gonk would enlarge my palatte of weird sounds . . . and they do. Not sure why but the Dynamic Wah doesn't get a lot of love over on The Gear Page (TGP). It suits my purposes. It's quiet and has a lot of options. The reissue Gonkulator is different from the original. They added a tone generator so you can tune the pedal to the key of your song if you want to. One shortcoming of the pedal is you can turn the tone volume down, but you can't turn it off completely so the pedal is noisy. It's my first ring mod. Almost bought the Minifooger when they went on sale but I took too long to pull the trigger. Now I'm looking at the '68 Red Velvet Fuzz from Chase Tone with a low intro price. I better decide before the price goes up.

I got the DOD Gunslinger and Boneshaker at great prices. Would like to add a Carcosa as I've heard nothing but great things about them. It's really a shame what's happening at DigiTech/DOD. I hope they survive.

The 4th of July is coming. I'm expecting big holiday discounts.

Hey there, Stratman. It appears you need to add an addition onto your condo (maybe another pedal or axe)? Sorry, I can’t help ya. It looks like you and Spacewolf have it bad.
Ya gotta love the names of pedals. “Gonkulatorl. That’s a good one. I’d like to be at the Monday morning meetings that decides the latest greatest name for those little stomp boxes. I’ll bet the losers are also hilarious.

Maybe, we should do that kind of identity with our axes. On second thought wacky names for Tele, Strat, Les Paul, Ric, and others would lose that sumpin’. Nah, goofball pedal names are meant to be kicked around. :D

Maybe, just maybe, it would work with basses. We could call one a BiG BazookA or Long Louie or . . .

Imagine the fun we could paint on the cases.

A condo isn't the way to go. You can't turn the amps up and my fuzzes, ODs and distortion pedals sound awful through headphones. Was looking at a house on 4 acres up in horse/cattle/orange country, but I was still working at the time. I got serious when they lowered the price, but once again, I took too long to pull the trigger. It's a continuing theme in the story of my life.

I was surprised one night while watching an old rerun of "Hogan's Heroes". They were building a machine called the Gonculator (with a 'C'). That may have been where DOD got the name!!

As for having bad pedal GAS, I've read threads on TGP where a guy claimed to have bought 43 overdrives in a single year looking for the "right one". I didn't even know there were 43 overdrives to test. Another guy posted a picture of his pedalboard -- all Pete Cornish pedals. If all were purchased new, the value of his board came to almost US$7,500 !!! Believe me Spacewolf and I cannot compete with some of the hard cases on that forum.

Oh God ....
The must be seven hundred and 43 OD/Dist pedals out there.
I've owned over a hundred in my years and I have barely scratched the surface and more keep coming every day.

Well, that’s an interesting piece of trivia. Thanks, for adding that. :D

Lemmee see. Hundreds of OD/Dist pedals, mixed and matched, tweaked and selected. “Why golly gee Batman, that amounts to a kazillion possibilities”!
We need a discombooberator pedal to straighten it all out.
. . .and a cone of silence to make them quiet. :P

Here ya go, buddy.
Straight from my own personal collection.
And yes, I still have this pedal.
Maybe one day I'll take a better pic.

Could be me but this seems to take the harsh treble bite away very subtlety from my Strat. Seems to meter at a higher capacitance than my straight cables, My straight measure 1.0 to .8, this new coil cable measures 4.0, but at the same time my SG with HB sounds a little to dark

I ordered a set of Dunlop short scale flats for my Ibanez bass. They should be here Tuesday. I've never tried this brand before, but I've found that Dunlop generally makes pretty good stuff, so I'm curious to see how they'll do.

I've just ordered a Chase Tone '68 Red Velvet Fuzz. It will be fuzz box #10 . . . I think.

I have no self-restraint.

Ordered a Limited Edition Epiphone SG Special-I....tracking shows it delivering tomorrow.
Always wanted a guitar with double humbuckers. Got this thing brand new for $135.15 on a 4th. Of July sale at Musicians Friend.
At this price, I can afford to modify it, should I find modification to be necessary.
Will be my first experience with a "wrap around" bridge/tail piece combination....so not sure if I'll like it. The guitar gets some decent reviews; but we all know most reviews are written during the "honeymoon" period, and unless the guitar shows up with immediate visible flaws, people are just ecstatic to be getting a new toy.
Time will tell....135 ain't gonna make or break me.

Unless you wanna stand 4 feet from your amp....no you don't want one. I got one....tried, and tried, and tried to stretch it some, to no avail. Read the reviews at Musicians Friend---I agree with every one of them...especially the one I wrote.

If it is #10, then you've almost caught up with me.
Here are the ones I currently own, in no particular order:
1. Dunlop JH-F1
2. Dunlop MFF1
3. EHX BMP w/TW
4. Way Huge Swollen Pickle
5. Danelectro French Toast
6. Red Witch Fuzz God II
7. FuzzHugger Algal Bloom
8. FuzzHugger VelcroBot
9. GFS Pro Fuzz Classic
10. DOD Carcosa
11. Black Arts Toneworks LSTR

And I'm always thinking about what the next one might be. :?
