Thanks. The original neck developed a sideways warp, still felt and played great but bugged me knowing it made the guitar basically worthless. Saw this unused neck on Kijiji for $150 CDN ($117 US) and thought "PERFECT". I wanted to use the Squier tuners ,(Fender Gotoh's) but they wouldn't cover the 2 holes for the Fender tuners the neck was pre drilled for. My local fender dealer only had locking tuners in stock so I thought I 'd give them a try. They work great. and are staggered which I at first didn't realize the neck required without string trees. Overall I'm extremely happy with the results.

Just a heads up on this neck replacement. Some may find this neck matched to a Squire a little distasteful in that, although understood to be a Fender guitar, the combo could be misleading to a lesser informed individual. I won’t make a judgment here; just to let you be aware should the question arise.

Point taken. I will not try to pass this for anything other than what it is. The Squier neckplate will remain, and I wrote "Squier and the serial# from the original neck in the neck pocket with a Sharpie.

Squire has an established reputation of it’s own so it’s the right approach. For those who are unaware of another Forum related to Squires here’s a handy link:

Good on ya’ Riderock. :D

My last gear purchase was two left-hand staggered Seymour Duncan SSL-1 pickups.

I had the Ampeg SVT-212AV cab, but I did just acquired the V-4B head.

Enjoy!

Thanks. After all these years, the V-4B is the first Ampeg tube amp I've had. The head, and cab do match up well, being from the same Ampeg Classic series.

Pretty cool. 8) I think when they reintroduced the V-4B, they came out with that cab with it, as well.

Yes they did Paul. They also brought out the SVT-112AV at the same time. The SVT-112AV is an 8 ohm, 300 watt version of the SVT-212AV 4 ohm, 600 watt cab. I'm super impressed with the V-4B head.

That would be cool if they would also put out a 4 x 12" cab. I'm pretty sure they had one back in the day. Come to think of it, I think I spotted one online not that long ago, when I was doing a search for 4 x 12" bass cabs.

So after 20 years with my last wireless, a Samson, I broke down and got a new Line 6, G30 system. Our guitarist has had one for a couple years and has had nothing but good luck with it so seemed a good choice. And yes, I realize that my old wireless was probably in the FCC "not good" list but I didn't give that too much thought. It was just proving to be unreliable so time to bite the bullet.

And while I was at it I decided now was a good time to "up" my vocal mic as well. I've been using my stand by SM58 for over 15 years. My vocals are quieter than the other members and I need to boost my gain considerably. So this time I went with a Shure Beta 87A. This should help me boost my gain while avoiding feedback and make mixing a little easier.

Merry Christmas to me, and goodbye to several hundred dollars. :D

New mics? Shout it to the world, Chris. I haven’t tried the Shure Beta 87A, but I know it’s considerably better for at least vocals (with little or no plosives) than the Beta 57A which I’m happy to use as a workhorse instrument and sometimes vocal mike as a spare. I’ve heard good things about the Line 6 wireless lineup and your recommendation adds to the lot.

Enjoy those great new additions, Chris, and keep rockin’ with a great Christmas holiday. :D
