Just a few days ago , I decided to pull my Epiphone Gold top re-issue LP along with my Fender Roc-Pro 700 out of the closet where they've been for the last few months and start playing them again. I'd been on a Acoustic kick since March or so and hadn't been playing Electric at all . After getting a few licks in, it occurred to me how much I missed rocking out just for the heck of it and now the old flow is kicking in and I want to return to the band scene. I'm now 56 years old and am wondering if this is a mid life crisis type thingy or something that just never goes away . LOL. Anyhow , I'm now looking at GC's used gear section on their website and am considering getting some new toys to play with.

I guess it depends on moods. Sometimes, you need to chill out for awhile and then other times, you need to kick it in the arse.

Jeff, you are a guitar player so "a mid life crisis type thingy" is wishful thinking lol. Play on, rock on and let the good times roll guitarman !

jeff- I'm 61 :o . played in bands from 66 to 68. hardly played from 80 to about 2000 due to marriage, kids, and other things.

when I picked it up again 15 years ago I didn't realize how much I miss it. I still play out on occasion, and would love to do so on a regular basis. trying to find guys my age who still want to play is a bit of a challenge, but I still practice an hour a day just to keep my chops up. I also just bought a martin acoustic, so I am getting back into that as well.

music is a great stress relief, and just a lot of fun. can't ask for much more than that.

well sorta, pulled a relic out of the closet the other day. ('ve got 20 guitars,, among these three USA fenders, my 95 Strat has pretty much sat in the case in my guitar storage closet for quite some time.. favoring my newer 2014 Standard, or Tele lately.

on a lark, I yanked it out the other day, tossed a new set of strings on it, did a fw minor tweaks to the action and truss rod, and now I'm asking myself "Why do you NOT use this more"... So I think it will come with me tonight when my cover band gets together for our first jam since June.

about the "return to playing" we're never too old,, if you have the desire and can find the right people, do it while it's "doable."

Although I will admit,, on occasions (maybe 4 or 5 a year when the opportunity arises) I do admit, there are things I miss, but there are just as many things I do not. (I gigged quite heavily for close to 25 years, but about 12 / 13 years ago, decided it was time to take a hiatus from the routine.)

it's still a young mans game, in many aspects... (btw,, since were baring our souls, I'm 58)

Must be catching. A couple months ago, I bought an SG copy from a friend on a lark. I hadn't even looked at an electric guitar for years. Talking with him during the buy, I realized how much I wanted to have a band again. I'm 59. Haven't played in a band since age 20 or so. I have a '71 Strat I bought in '74, so I had got that out again, and bought a Vox VT20 because it had reverb and tremolo (plus a WHOLE LOT more) for a low price, and started practicing. Last weekend, on a whim, I went into a music store, and saw a David Lozeau strat and fell in love. As you can see from my avatar, I now own it, and the other day I also ordered an AVRI '56 in Shell Pink. I think I'm done spending money for now, but busy practicing the old tunes, like Honky Tonk Women, etc. Good times! Rock on!

Hell no I'm 55 and have a blast doing it. We don't over do it. We play like 3 gigs a month which is good but man we have fun.
