It might just be someone that's playing their butt off every week and hasn't gotten any big break yet ?

Or it could be John Frusciante ? 8)

ya I agree with you in that there are many excellent people out there who just haven't gotten a break.

Kenny Wayne Sheperd a lot of the greats have let him play guitar with them because of that talent!

There are so many studio guys that make everyone else sound good but never get the billing any one of them could be the best (but the average person will never hear the names). I put in for Dann Huff.

this is a tuff one. i personaly dont think since
the arival of edward van halen back in 1978 there has
been realy a guitarist that has set the guitar world on fire
theres been a few great ones but no one like him.
i creadit jimi hendrix and eddie van halen the only two that has changed the world of guitar and the way we play today.

Best guitar player from this millennium would have to be Quinn Sullivan.

The "guitar kid" that was on Ellen.

The rest of the people y'all posted were born in the last millennium...

Definitely not the best, that would be impossible to determine, but my favorites are Tom Morello, John Frusciante, Matt Bellamy, Mike Einzger, and Buckethead

Well I was thinking--hmm, they'd have to be under 8 years old, depending on when you think the millennium started...

I'd be tempted to say the guitarist from Back Door Slam. Hes in his early 20s (puts me to shame on the guitar!) and is definately an emerging talent.
