I just watched a demo of the Fractal FX II, it looks very cool, does anyone here have one or tried one? The comments on the demo video were so ridiculous they weren’t worth reading, one guy even compared the sound quality to his Digitech RP 360 ( I have one and its ok but just a toy compared to this). I just wondered what an actual user thought.

I've thought about getting a Fractal Axe FX for over a year. But it's a big commitment besides the cost of the Fractal. You don't plug the Fractal into a guitar amp. It needs a FFR system, which means a whole new setup. I rarely hear anything bad about them, but I've had too many other "needs" to take the plunge.
One thing that stops me from buying, is I never read much about the actual effects that are included. I have a pedal board that I've perfected over time and I don't want to give up any of my favorite effects like reverse reverb. There's really very little info on the effects. Most of the info is on the amp and cabinet sims and being able to clone your favorite amp.

Probably "FRFR" which means "Full Range Flat Response", i.e. Hi-Fi instead of a guitar speaker.

I had seen it described as FFR for flat frequency response, but you're probably right with the FRFR moniker. Either way it's a whole new rig and I can't justify it.

After checking a bit deeper (good info is hard to find on this) the fractal will work on an amp but was indeed designed for total solid state. It seems to work best run through a mixer with a digital effects loop connected to a computer via usb and on to powered speakers or a monitor. This is how I use my digitech however I use an amp. It is said that the advantages to this are most strongly heard with the cabinet modeling, because the speakers reproduce the selected amp sound more accurately. This makes sense because modeling through an amp always adds the modeled sound to the amp you have. I have never been a fan of pure digital sound (pure digital? lol) and have faced the issue of latency on more then one occasion, I currently have mine down to under 10Mils) but I do understand the digital appeal. We all listen to primarily digital music (unless its on a record album recorded from tape) Maybe its just nostalgia but I remember in the 80s the sound of my Twin with a Tube Screamer and Analog delay sounding better than the emulated version. But I'm getting old and at the point where even ice cream seemed better "back in the day".
P.S. if this info is incorrect please let me know as I have started trying to figure out how to afford making the switch. also "is this a can of worms I want to open?"
