A couple of days ago , I was scrolling through AMS website on their section where they have scratch and dent deals and I came across this Epiphone DR-100 package for only $79.99 , which included free shipping. The guitar is in a beautiful Vintage Sunburst finish and also came with a gig bag , Electronic tuner , wrench for the truss rod, CD , and chord book, along with a nice poster. The CD and chord book , I threw away because I didn't need those items. As for the guitar itself , I could not find any scratches or dents on it. Maybe they just have too many of these in stock ? I don't know but, after a truss rod adjustment , cleaning the fretboard with some Lemon Oil and, putting a new set of Elixirs on it , I am surprised at just how good this guitar actually sounds. These newer models now have die cast tuners and stay in tune forever which is a major change from the older models. Plus the gig bag is actually well built as well. For 80 bucks, I got one helluva deal and I'm pleased as punch !

that's a great price. Does that guitar have a plastic nut/saddles? It seems like Fender has upped the ante on their lower-end acoustics, it sounds like Epiphone is working in that direction too.

Congrats!

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Cool guitar. 8) I was looking around for something like that, myself. That's pretty good you got a deal on it.

You know, I've gotten a couple of deals like that with AMS "scratch and dent" specials. A Schecter Diamond Jazz Bass and Orange Terror Bass 1000 bass amp were listed like that (the Orange I got for only $360 and it was normally $1049) and there was absolutely nothing wrong with either of them other than maybe the boxes that they come shipped in were a little banged up.

You can get really good deals there (the 3 to 12 month payment plans are a plus) and they (at least in my experience) have excellent customer service. When I had to ship back a POS Squier Bass VI I bought a couple of years ago (nice QC there, Fender :P ) they were more than accommodating, unlike a certain corporation around here that we all know and love. :P

The only minuses I've had with them are they don't take Pay Pal Credit and they've stopped carrying a lot of stock that I'd normally would purchase. For example, Rotosound flatwound bass strings. I guess they have to keep stock of what sells the most, like any other business model.

Yeah, the nut and saddles are plastic but I already replaced the saddles with a new set of graph-tech tusq which have already improved the sound of it . I was thinking of changing the tuners but , they're actually quite good and keep it in tune very well .

Now that I've had this for over a week , I have to say I'm very impressed with this one. I'm going to keep the stock tuners on it because they hold tuning quite well and with the Graph-Tech tusq pins & Elixirs on it, it sounds really great . This is my very 1st Epiphone Acoustic and I wasn't aware how great these guitars are. I'm now considering getting a Hummingbird to add to the collection. I went to GC yesterday and tried one out and loved it. Now I just have to talk to the wife about it.
