Love the Customs coin toss entering Mexico at the airport. 'Green', you win. 'Red', you lose. My last two entrie,s Oct and Dec, we were carrying a large amount of luggage. Came up 'red' both times. March, April and June, not so. Must be a 'Vegas Wheel'. :?

Maybe lots of luggage equals randomly selected for security screening.

Or too little luggage.

My advice for avoiding extra security checks:
Only carry a single item. Wear a suit if you look like a man or a business dress if you look like a woman. Have a drink. Never look around, nor at your watch, only at signs, gates and attendants directly in front of you.

Be polite to the check-in staff. If they write an S on your boarding pass, you will be screened. They're at liberty to add that at their own discretion in addition to what the computers decide, and they don't have to tell you why.
But if you see an S, whether handwritten or printed, know that you're screwed, and prepare for the screening.
If you don't see an S, you might still get pulled over.

The Ric was supposed to arrive yesterday but how was I supposed to know Canada Post works on Sundays?
It therefore spent the night in the Post Office getting accustomed to room temperature so when I picked it up I didn't hesitate to open it right up.

I have to leave right away for a lunch with an old friend but when I get back home I'll tune it up and plug it in and give my thoughts.

Oh yes .... I will be bonding with this thing.
That's for damned sure.
The tone is definitely single coil, hotter than a typical Fender coil but not as dark sounding as a P90.
It's a twang monster on the bridge pup when I want it to be and a real old school rocker as well.
The tone controls seem to have a very wide range of usefulness.
Volume controls seem about as expected.
I notice no discernible frequency bleed-off when operating the volume controls.
The neck pup is a little Tele like but not quite exactly.
Both pups together is very similar to a Tele but with just a bit more honk.
It's more touch sensitive than I was expecting it to be, which pleases me.
Both of the pups seem to have more note definition that a typical Fender single coil ... and yet not.

I find it interesting that the neck binding does not cover the full thickness of the fretboard.
Tuners work smoothly and intonation doesn't seem to need attention.
I will still check it later but i suspect I won't need to tweak anything.
Action seems about right for me.
The fret work is excellent.

Beautiful...that is a little strange about the neck binding.

Pud, you got that right.
I just ran through The Cabin Down Below and I was actually laughing while I was playing it.
It was giddy glee.
I'm one happy camper.

BTW, the neck is just a little wider feeling than a Fender.
Not quite as wide as an SG but still lots of room for bratwurst finger tips.

I love the tone of toasters......if you want that Harrison vibe, that's the way to it. Grab yourself a handwired AC30TB and you'll be on your way to nirvana.

Congrats, Matt......that's an unforgettable Christmas gift!

Congratulations Matt !
I noticed the Chicago Music Exchange box. I once played a $17,000 Firebird VII there, amazing instrument super guitar store.

Nice, SBLS. I don't know if you were nervous playing it; but, sometime ago I commented on how beautiful the finish was on a violin that a local internationally well known musician owned. He gave it to me to admire, and when he mentioned it's history and name I got the heebie jeebies, and with my hands shaking I handed the über expensive instrument back to him. He told me that I didn't have to worry as it was a player. That only made me more nervous.
As for your gorgeous axe, Matt, if you passed it to me I might not give it back.

Your follow up was great info. BMW-KTM. Let us know how the setup holds over time.

Cheers! Have a great holiday with that baby, fellow Canuck.

Very pretty!
Glad to hear it's not one of the narrow neck Ricks too.

If it sounds half as good as it looks, you're going to be happy for a long long time, I'm sure! Congratulations are definitely in order.

Rollie, I was looking everywhere for a 650 or a 660 at a decent price.
I had never heard of the Chicago Music Exchange before.
I saw one of their ads on Reverb and decided to check out their own website.
The guy I spoke to on the phone, Joel something, was really great.
I got this new one for less money (all in - ship/tax) than virtually every used one was going to be (all in) that I could find.
There's not many out there.
I think I got lucky on this one.
They even agreed to go against their normal policy and ship via USPS rather than UPS/FedEx.
Canadians get absolutely RAPED by the courier services anytime they import from USA using couriers.
They call it a "brokerage fee" but I found out after the first time it happened to me that there's no such thing as a brokerage fee.
It's just a charge they levy .... because they know once it's at your door you won't refuse delivery.
Usually in the neighbourhood of around 15%.
That adds up quick.
Neither Canadian Customs nor USA Customs nor either postal service charges any fees for clearing Customs or border processing.
I looked into it and called both agencies by telephone.
