Perhaps the most famous is the Black Paisley signature model made by Fender Japan in 1996; this guitar featured a pair of RS singles in the neck & middle and a TBX circuit for the middle & bridge pickups; it also lacked the switchable Elite mid boost electronics found on the MIA version.

Richie's own Black Paisley guitar (crafted by Jay W. Black, Fred Stuart and Todd Krause) sported all those goodies, including the two Texas Specials and switchable MDX boost circuit.

I hope they're keeping it in better condition than they kept Gilmour's 'Black Strat' when they had it on loan. Uffff!!

I had a strat with the FR system. I could not deal with the mechanical nonsense that was involved in string changes and fine tuning/setups. I never felt the benefits warranted such a complicated system.

I have three Stratocasters with floating trems: Gilmour, Deluxe VG, and Plus; my Claptons are both 'stopped' with wood blocks as per specs. Like them best.

Although I love the Antigua Strats and Sienna Bursts just about the most beautiful Strat I have seen is the limited run of 40 (?) custom commemorative Strats made for execs of Jaguar Cars for a milestone anniversary. They were done in a beautifully rich British Racing Green and had Jaguar themed inlays etc. on the fretboard and some of the hardware.I believe that Alain LaFrance long time Forum member and renowned collector of vintage Fenders and the proprietor of The Guitar Motel has one in his vast collection,if I'm not mistaken. These Strats are certainly works of art.

You'll find Paul Rodgers playing one during a performance in the Strat Pack 50th Anniversary Concert video.

I kind of agree. The guitars I have with trems are also blocked, and I tend to play my hardtails more (Tele and SG). But I do like Bigsbys, for some reason. They're ugly, hard to string, but they do feel substantial and aren't going to change your tone unless you really want them to.

I'm kind of intrigued. How does he get a frictionless cover to stay on? And he uses it for this instead of licensing it to DuPont and the US Navy, who would certainly pay millions?

Sir Isaac would have been equally curious.
