For a while there was a card telling people Cleartone strings were used from the factory.

I wonder if that's still the case?

Speaking of going back to a bass, I put in 2 hours on the Precision Bass today, then about another 30 minutes on the violin bass, then went back to the Precision for another 30 minutes. I was mostly just jamming out, nothing too serious. I've been playing the Precision so much with the rounds, the flats on the hollow body are starting to feel a bit odd to me now. I don't know, maybe my tastes in string types are changing. I'm digging the bite you can get with the rounds.

I like the feel of Flats, but the Nylons I play are Rounds. So I guess Rounds work for me.

Dang! Late for the party again.
I know what to bring. That beautiful SG (ya didn’t disappoint me) deserves a double helping of Jello! That colour too if I remember.

That's true, they are rounds with the tape wrapped around them. Hey, maybe I can maybe make my own by wrapping electrical tape around my rounds. :P Yeah, that will work, or maybe not. :P

Definitely Cherry Jello, with that finish. :P

The old time Nylons I used in 1969/1970, were wrapped with a thin foam, held on by black electrical tape. The really sucked. The tape would actually start to un wind as you were playing them. The sound was good. They just fell apart.

Cherry Jello would be the flavor to go with this one.

This SG Std. does have a nice clean tone to it. The Humbuckings are wrapped really well, and the Mahogany body, and neck don't hurt either. Image

Wow, and I thought I was making a joke. :P That's good that they figured out how to make those right, then.

You were actually right on about the black electrical tape. These new ones are amazing compared to the old tapewounds.

From what it looks like too, the neck appears to be quarter sawn.
I had the choice of this one, or another. I liked the grain in the body, and it weighs 7.10 pounds.
The Walnut I have coming in has a grain I like better than the other three, and weighs in at 7.10 pounds as well.

That's interesting they actually attempted that. I wonder if someone just came up with that in an attempt for an electric bass to have a more "upright bass sound," as it were?
