I do have to say how surprised I am with the quickness this Precision has. Other than it sounds so good, I believe the quickness is a reason I like it so much.

Excellent action, then. The P Bass I had years ago was like that. I didn't have to do a thing to it when I bought it. Sometimes, you can get lucky with instruments like that, I think.

I usually do ok with a standard Fender setup. This Precision's setup, does feel like my two Jazzes. I can go from one to the others without any noticeable difference, other than the Precision being slightly wider.

How do you usually like your action? Me, I try to get it as low as possible before any serious buzzing occurs. I like to use lighter gauge strings, too. I find that easier on me in the long run.

I do well with the standard Fender action. For me, the board radius seems to be more of an issue. 9.5" Is about as much of an arch as I like. The flatter the better. Strings for me, medium gauge are my preference. .50 - .105.

My Schecter Jazz has a 12" radius, I do believe. I know it's a lot more flat than the Squier Jazz. Because of that, it seems a little wider to me. I haven't played both of them side by side in a long time, though. I've been mostly playing on the Squier in my office, lately.

I use to use heavier gauge strings, but then I decided to switch to lighter ones. I just find them easier to play on, especially up the neck.

12" Radius is nice. Gibson, and Epiphone are pretty standard at 12".

Actually, I screwed up on that one. I checked the specs again to confirm it and it's 16" radius, not 12" radius. I must have been thinking of another bass and you reminded me of that when you mentioned Gibson and Epiphone.

16" Is even better. A real flat fretboard on that one.

If that was the same radius on a couple Schecter Basses I tried, that may be the reason I Liked the Schecter as much as I did. A good playing bass.

I think so. I do like the necks of them.

I don't remember which Schecter model it was, but I do remember not wanting an active bass. That was a several years ago though.

They have a lot more active basses than passive ones that they're making now. They've discontinued a few models that were passive, including the one I have. I guess they feel those will sell more, who knows? They're typically catering to the heavy metal crowd, so maybe that's what's popular there, I don't know.

I guess players that go for them are into active basses.
