Or you could add an additional cab, if you wanted. You have some options to play around with, either way.

Very true. I think the Neo 15" is a real kicker. I would've liked to have had those mounted in the cabs I moved a long time ago.

Yeah, it's actually been at least 15 years since I've even played through a 15" speaker. The last one I had was when I was still in Florida, as part of my old rig I had down there. I've never played through one up here, that I recall. I do miss it, but I do like my 18" speaker.

If I had it to do over again, I think I would have gotten one of those, instead of the 2 x 10" cab, as unconventional as a 18" and 15" combo might seem. I could at least use the 15" separately for a smaller setup, since that 2 x 10" cab really isn't that great for that purpose, at least for me. Like they say, hindsight is always 20/20.

I got it because I thought it was the cheapest option available at the time, and it matched up with the 18" cab, since both were from Carvin. It's not a terrible cab, but it's more suited to be paired with the 18" (or a 15") cab to provide the low end. I noticed the speakers on the 10"s weren't too responsive in that range, but more so for highs and some mids. Maybe if I put in some Celestions , that might help, but with the cost of getting a pair of those, I could just get a 15" cab, like a Fender Rumble.

Yeah, I probably should have gotten that, or even the 12" speaker version, instead. Either one would have worked for my purposes and worked as a stand alone cab, if I didn't, or need the 18" cab. I wonder if I could, or it would be feasible to even try to sell the 2 x 10" cab? I haven't had a hell of a lot of luck moving gear, even with the Reverb.com page. I still haven't been able to sell the Schecter Diamond J Bass. I'd probably have to take a loss to even get rid of it, plus dealing with shipping, if it's not local pickup, plus used 2 x 10" cabs are a dime a dozen on the market. To be fair, it's in mint condition, since I've only used it a couple of times, and it's never left the rehearsal room, but still...

I just looked up the Canadian price and the Rumble 500 head amp comes in at about $540, and at approximately $400 the Rumble 115. Even at those prices . . . still a pretty good deal. IMHO.

You probably have to pay more because of some sort of tariffs, or something of that nature? I had a friend that lived in Japan that told me that American brand products like Fender (even though a lot of it isn't even made here) were expensive, but he could get stuff like Vox amps a lot cheaper, including the AC30 amps, because they aren't an American brand, or something of that nature.

Our dollar is perceived to be worth more than it sits at. Canada has little debt and the country is über rich in resources. Canadians (especially the house and/or car poor) may carry a lot of debt and we are perpetually poor when it comes to realizing Canada’s worth. Whenever we get a Liberal government it is common for the dollar to be valued at a lower rate to increase our exports. Good for some, and awful for others. Wham Bam! An average increase of 20-25% out of pocket, plus considerations with shipping, possible duties, and taxes tacked on to that desirable music product.
Politics aside, we have trade agreements that generally allow better or free trade rates from the UK, Mexico, and USA. However, if that USA or other product is wholly or partially made outside of North America the penalties apply. Also, USA and Canada generally have similar duty rates in that they go up and down depending on the flavour of the day. Did I mention high taxes? Other than that, things are just peachy keen. :?
Canada and the Commonwealth countries have more relaxed duties, but Japan will have some other arrangement that I don’t know about. Maybe, Britain, Australia, and Japan made a deal where British gear would be available at some better rates than the U.S. stuff ? I can’t say.

Somehow, Paul, we get to buy back a bunch of Canadian maple necks attached to bodies at an added cost. We're used to things like that, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I suppose something like Traynor or Godin would be cheaper there than here, since they are made there, would they?

You would think so. Traynor always gets my attention.

I think Traynor, Godin, and others do have better deals for us Canucks, if for no other reason, an easier Canadian access and plenty to choose from (I’ve heard that Traynor still has a bass amp following up here in North Country).

On the other hand, exports can work the other way around too. I can’t say how America takes on these and similar Canadian products, but I assume acoustics have their niche following, and Traynor has a reputation based on history and value, and maybe less on competitive design even though Traynor is no slouch nor is it a new kid on the block. A boutique amp it is not.

I do recall when Traynor amps adorned Canadian stages amongst the Fenders, Marshalls, Kustoms, and such in the 60s. That said, I had a salesman grab me when I was looking at mixers and he said I had to try a new Traynor. Well, I did and it was sweet with a Celestion Vintage 30, and then I went home to my Fender. Both great and both different. :D

I had a Traynor Bass head that kicked Fender Bassman's in 1969. I had one of the few Traynor's in the area at that time. Almost everyone thought it was a Bassman until they got closer to it. I've always thought the Traynor Amps were very underrated, and held their own on stages.

That’s cool, Glenn. I remember the Bassman/Traynor comparison from those days.

Interestingly enough, some of the younger ‘uns may not be aware that in the early days manufacturers often emulated other amps without stepping on toes because that was the sound of an era. Sure the same thing happened later (just as hybrids, solid state, and modelling amps do today), but, for the most part, vintage gear had fewer brands and options available.

Are there substantial differences in the sound amongst amps, and can the sound relationship be picked out by individuals? Yes and yes. It does work best if you have close experience overtime with the gear, however.IMHO.

I’ll accept my bias in this statement, but generally speaking, perhaps less so with bass, a Fender has a signature tone that even a novice can identify. YMMV

Hit the reverb Mr. Dale. 8)

The Fender Bassman design from the 60's, was good enough for Jim Marshall to copy as the the base for the now FAMOUS Marshall amps. Fender Bassman's were to expensive at that time, so Jim Marshall turned out his Marshall's. God Save The Lord Of Loud!!!

Speaking of Traynor, I don't even know where you can get them, other than some used listings at Guitar Center or eBay. I found some random dealers in my state and a couple states over, like Massachusetts, but nothing really within 25 miles. I remember they use to sell them online at Musician's Friend, and related, a few years ago, or so. Before that, there was Yorkville, which I do remember even seeing in a local store in Florida, way back in the day. I always liked their 400 watt combo with the 15" speaker.
