Flats are a great strings. The D'Addario Nylons have a flats sound to them. I used D'Addario Chrome Flats before I went to the Nylons. A good sound, and a really nice smooth feel to them when being played. (Like the Nylons)

If I were to order flats from AMS, they'd have to be D'Addario, since that's the only kind they carry right now. That's the one thing about them, is that they don't carry everything, or they stopped carrying certain items that they use to have. I'm thinking about trying out La Bella strings, since I've noticed Rotosounds are a bit scarce from the usual places I can get them online, lately. Although, they do have their own store, but I'm going to pay a few bucks extra, plus $4.99 shipping, so they'll be $39.99 total for the flats. I'm not sure if I want them enough to pay extra for them, and I've never tried La Bella strings. I know that they make a lot of specialty strings for violin basses and the Fender Bass VI, things like that.

I thought the La Bella Nylons were fine on the Hofner. Good strings.

Yeah, I've been seriously considering trying out a set.

I definitely went to the Precision Bass, yesterday. I started doing some recording for the new EP and gave it a good work out for a couple of hours. That thing certainly has a growl to it when you really dig in, especially with the rounds on it. Hopefully (time permitting,) I'm going to plug in the hollow-body violin bass and try some recording with that and see how it goes. I've never done it with that bass. Also, I think I'm going to do some recording with the Telecaster, which I never done, professionally. I've just used it on 4-track demos that I've done in the past.

You're going to be a busy man in the studio. That's good! Stay with it, and all the best to you're doing it as well. Image

Thanks. 8) Unfortunately, I've been busy doing other things and I didn't get a chance to hook up the hollow-body bass and do some recording like I planned. Maybe later, if not too late, or tomorrow. I'm damned curious to hear how that thing sounds recorded. The Precision Bass sounds like a Precision Bass, as well as it should, with the bonus of the extra Jazz pick up.

I'm not surprised that you like the sounds of your PJ Precision. I'm partial to mine too. When you do try out the hollow body, let us know how it plays for your studio playing.

Yeah, I'm hoping to do that tonight. I don't know where the time has been going for the day has been going lately, but it's been going pretty damned quick, it seems. :P

When I'm feeling ok , it seems to go by quickly. When I'm feeling lousy, the day seems to last forever.

Well, let's hope your day goes by quickly then, Glen. I know what you mean though.

When I was younger it was, "I've got lots of time to do or get what I want." Now it's, "Time doesn't allow the same opportunities, and priorities change." Things that made sense when you were younger are likely to no longer apply. The time and ability to complete a goal is often compressed, restricted, or out of reach. Frustration often sets in and missed opportunities reveal themselves.

New opportunities and goals show up. They aren't, however, always the first choice. Then there is the old question, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" That certainly can apply in the music world.

The cool thing is age allows one to say, "What the hey?" without having to wait a long time for an answer.

To the younger ones, if you get the opportunity you desire follow your bliss.

I've also noticed time will go by a lot differently depending on what schedule I'm on. If I'm up in the mornings like average folks and business hours, then it goes by slower, but if I'm up at some sort of overnight schedule it seems different than that, sometimes. It's probably just psychological, because I might feel rushed to go somewhere before they close, that sort of thing. It also takes me at least 90 minutes a day or more when I go for a walk, so that can take a chunk of time, too.
