Well, that cuts out the middle man. (WHAT?) That sounds like you're doing well with the PJ.

It's good. I've been cycling through the Squiers and the hollow-body, mostly. I haven't messed with any of the other stuff in a while. Of course, that's always subject to change. :P

I guess I'll be playing the GL Jazz mainly. My two both have Jazz width necks, and they are only two ounces different in weight. So it really comes down to the Precision sound from the PJ for that one, or the Low Down Bass sound of the GL.

I played through the Fender Amp for about an hour today, at first on the violin bass, then I went to the Precision Bass for most of the time. I even turned on the distortion channel on the amp, which I haven't used in a very long time. It sounds really friggin' good and plays pretty tight. I'm still on the fence about putting flats on it or not.

Flats are a great strings. The D'Addario Nylons have a flats sound to them. I used D'Addario Chrome Flats before I went to the Nylons. A good sound, and a really nice smooth feel to them when being played. (Like the Nylons)

I may have missed this, but just curious. Anybody using coated bass strings? Brand/thoughts?

The Nylons are some what of a coated string. The Nylon covers a rounded metal string within.

Thanks, for the info, Glen. I didn't know that. My first guitar had nylons, but now I know those bass strings are a different makeup.

Cheers!

I was actually looking at those online, earlier. I never tried them, but they typically cost more than regular strings, and bass strings are expensive enough as they are, especially flatwounds. :P
