That happens here too, Paul. Sometimes, the amp is painted with clear coat protection.

Would that be Long and McQuade? That's a big wig chain store in Canada, isn't it?
Well, often that's the case. Unfortunately, I live between two L&Ms close by. I am on their mailing list, and donate to their cash registers. They are well established, are distributors, and have their own line of gear (Yorkville and ART) too - from amps like Traynor to mixers and everything in between, and they are very connected with the pro community as there is most every kind of big gear to tiny trinkets available so they do have clout and savvy. Other great music stores this side of the border share in limited models of gear as earlier discussed too, however.

FSB

Factoid: I once tried dealing from a distance with a well known music chain in Quebec. They told me, at the time, they were getting burnt from organized crime and credit cards, and refused my purchase with an apology.

It's a new one. The one I had before is on the road.

Cool. 8) Of course, it will need the Road Rex modifications, like new pick guard and nylon strings.

I've looked at the Long and McQuade website a while back, out of curiosity. I've done that with random countries to see what they have going on as far as music gear goes. It's one way of exploring the world, I suppose. :P Sometimes, you can find things that you can't even find here. Japan is like that. They have, or I guess would be had, since I don't think it exists anymore, Fender Japan. If you ever seen that stuff, they had all kinds of models in all kinds of finishes. That's just one thing, but it's so expensive to ship from Japan to the US, for the most part. Then again, I've heard you pay up the arse to ship anything into Canada, too. What is that, tariffs or customs fees?

That cost to get goods into Canada varies. Supposedly, the duty is comparable to what the current agreement is for America's rate charged to get Canadian goods per item of equal grouping.

Our previous government had the Canadian dollar as par with it jumping to as high as $1.25 American equivalent; but, without me crying too hard and criticising our current government's generosity, our dollar slipped to an average of 75 cents American.

After dollar differences, shipping, duty, and tax we get hammered because we are so patriotic. Sometimes we can skip shipping duties/tax by refusing delivery and doing a pickup. Also. there are occasions when we can use our personal exemption, but that's not always the case.

Whatever, we cherish our expensive guitar gear and envy your purchases and availability.

Overall, we do well from minimum wage and up nationally compared to those in your large population. The separation of rich and poor is still a concern and one difference is Americans (generally speaking) take a risk (sometimes adding to wealth) where Canadians do not (preferring to do without, but prefer to own what they have, pay bills, and miss out on the opportunities). I guess that's why we aren't trillions of dollars in debt and lack some of the good things in life. You also have tax breaks where we get nailed (homes, cars, and more).

But, who's to say what is best? It would be nice to have that custom Strat without having to rob a bank though.

Please, note I'm speaking on general terms and not to offend as everyone is the architect of their own fortune and, understandably, this is only a brief comparison because it is all more complicated. YMMV

If I am correct, Rhode Island is often treated differently than much of USA for some contests and, perhaps, other cost related things? Can you explain that, Paul?

Fender is pretty good with us up here though. Those other guys - not so much.

Cheers! Peace! and keep rawkin'!

Definitely the Nylon strings. I may do either the Black PG, or the Black Moto PG. Right now I'm favoring the Black PG. The White Pearloid PG doesn't look that bad either.

I'm not sure what the deal is with Rhode Island and the contest thing. I've lived here for 14 years, but I'm not from here, originally. I know they have high property taxes and some sort of car tax, but who knows where all of that money goes, especially, if you see the condition of the roads around here. They probably have better roads in third world countries. :P Actually, I've heard that there's quite a bit corruption in the government of this state, so you know where that money goes.

Well, at least you have a couple of options available.

I have a couple of Torts around too, but I'm not to revved up about that combination. The Black is still somewhat at the top of the list.

If I am correct, the state has a lot of well to do residents. That would explain some of your observations. Wherever the money is they'll be there to take their share legally or illegally. Sometimes, it's the same thing. :P

Even without a PG it would be hard to not admire that baby, Glenn.

Tort is cool with the black finish, for a 60's vibe, but I know you're not usually keen on that.

I would like it without a PG, except for it being routed.

I have the two Torts that are my favorites of about any Torts I've had. I may set them in place, just not mount them in place. I may like a Tort, I'll have to see.
