They do seem to be one of the more average sizes for a no hassle restring on most basses. The D'Addario ETB92 Mediums, and Shorts, have the same average fit also.

Is that why you use that particular brand?

That, and I do like the sound, and playability of them.

Before going to the Nylons, I used the D'Addario Chrome Flats. If I didn't like the D'Addario Nylons, I'd go back to D'Addario Chrome Flats.

I've used the D'Addario Chrome Flats a couple of times in the past, as well as the GHS ones and Fender flats many moons ago. I remember getting a set of those (the Fenders) at the Wagon Wheel Flea Market for around $19. That was probably 25 years ago, or so. Someone had a music store set up of some kind. I've used them a couple times after that, though. Mostly, I've used rounds.

There's nothing wrong with rounds. They play well too.

I've been thinking about going back to them, at least on one bass. If I can get the short fixed on the Ibanez CT series bass, it would be that one. That bass has a really nice neck on it and sounds pretty good. It has a P and J pickup configuration on it, as well.

Has any one checked out the short on it since it went down?

I've been playing the Precision so much, one of these days I'll have to get out the Jazzes. Image

No, we haven't messed with it. It's been sort of put on the back burner with a bunch of other stuff that needs to get done. I guess it's not a total priority, because I do have at least two functional basses, but I would like to get it working again.

So you've been really digging the P-Bass, then?

Certain things have priorities, and you have a couple of other basses to play in it's place.

Yeah,.... it's been playing well. The neck feels close to the Jazz, but not the same, and that's a good one have as a alternate player to the Jazzes. The Fretless is gonna be playing for a bit. The Fretless is a hard one to beat.

I've tried other basses but for me nothing else feels right until I go back to my 1974 Rick 4001. I've had the frets redone three times simply due to over 40 years of constant playing but it still delivers everytime! Bought it used in 1976 & been using it ever since!
