Long Scales are pretty much the top dog around in most local stores. Some flats, but mainly rounds. The SA closest to me stocks the D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Long Scales. They stock some La Bella also at that store.

I played the 4003W for just over an hour today. It's working out good. The Nylons on it smooth it out so nice. All the players that have never played with Nylons, and don't like em', It's funny.

I remember in Florida, a couple of the record shops would carry some guitar accessories and song books, besides getting albums. I actually bought a set of Dean Markley at a shop I use to go, since I needed them and they were open later than the guitar shop and were more convenient to go to at the time. I remember there were a few places around that combined a record shop with a guitar shop, which I always thought made sense, and was a good combo. I don't know if anything like that still exists today, since a lot of places have shut down the past 10 years or so.

I think they have shots for that now. Or you just avoid the people making those statements.

That's ok, strings really are a kind of personal preference anyway. My strings work fine for me. Just like basses, and amps too.

Ive been playing The Beatles on the 4003W the last couple of days, a very good sound for their songs.

Random thought, but do you ever mess with effects like chorus, or maybe overdrive/distortion?

Not really. I have a gain setting on the Markbass that I have set. But other than that, I really am old school that could be happy to have an old style amp, with enough power, and these settings; power, volume, bass, and treble. I was from the era of ground polarity switches, so you didn't get the you know what shocked out of you, from the amp.

You ever get Spanish AM radio stations through your amp? I had an old Ampeg SS combo that did that when I first started playing and I was rehearsing in some storage unit rental place somewhere up US19 in Florida, probably close to Clearwater. I think the amp was from the 70's, or something like that. Maybe early 80's. 120 watts with a 15" speaker and some kind of carpeting over it. B115, or some name like that.

No,.......... I never have. Was your interception of their signal before, or after 6:00 PM? Some AM stations had a good amount of transmitting power during the day. At 6:00 PM the more powerful stations had to cut there power at the transmitter.

I seem to think it might have been in the afternoon when that happened, but I'm not 100% sure. It was almost 30 years ago when I had that amp and played there. I did acquire my Peavey 450 watt Databass combo when I was still playing there, but never had that issue with that amp. It was brand new at the time, though.
