Oh, OK. I didn't realize they had them like that. I know a site with all of the different Ric models throughout the years, like the 4000 and 4002 models. http://www.rickbeat.com/ There's probably some other sources around, too.

There probably are others around. I'm not up on the other sources either.

I'm back with my Mustang PJ. If I was going to do a short scale, along with the Ric 4003w.

I was playing on the Ibanez bass last night. I should get that short fixed in that one first, since it does have a nice neck on it. I have to get strings for it, too. It looks like the drummer is going to work out after all, so if he still wants to fix the electronics on the basses like he originally offered to do, then that will make that easy to get done.

I hope you can get that one going again, if it plays the best for you.

They all play pretty good, even though they have different feels and sounds to them, which isn't a bad thing. I'd use it for certain things, but not others, and vice versa.

True, it's not unusual for the same brand, and type of Axe to have it's own character sound, and playability. No two are the same.

Yeah, even when they have the same pick up configuration on them, too.

I like my Strat Vintage re-issue. It plays well. I also have a Roland Strat with the Roland VG-8-EXP. I never get tired of playing with it through amps or with just headphones. I added this Mustang amp as a practice amp because the Hotrod Deluxe is a tad to loud for the homestead.

Best regards,
Charlie D

The Ric 4003W is the go to bass. Image

I've been going back between a little bit of everything, mostly the Schecter and violin bass, though. Probably because they are downstairs with me and they don't need any work done to them like the other basses do. Occasionally, I've also picked up my Telecaster to see if I can even still play a guitar, since it's been so long since I have. I rarely play one when I don't have to. I probably should put more time in playing one, though.

I try to play one more than the other. The 4003W gets played a bit more being a long scale. Stretching a bit playing the long scale feels good.

I'm really undecided whether I like playing the long scale or short scale better. That Epiphone Jack Cassidy semi hollow-body actually has a long scale, which seems like something you don't normally have with that format. It was based on a Gibson Les Paul Signature bass, which also had a long scale, that he had.

It could be GAS talking, but there's something about this bass that really got my attention besides the way it looks and sounds. It could be the in between the violin bass and the Schecter, which I could use for all of my musical projects.

If I could sell off a lot of the stuff I have and get one, I would. I doubt that's going to happen, though. I haven't had much luck with moving gear, so the only thing I can do is somehow come into some money to be able to get one. It's not that I don't like what I have, it's just I want to consolidate it all down to a couple of things that I can really use and not worry about anything collecting dust. You know how you got rid of everything to get the Ric? Something along those lines.

Yeah,....... I did Kick Out The Jams to acquire the Ric 4003W. Another thing with you liking the Epiphone Jack Cassidy semi hollow-body bass, the looks are from that time of the 60's, and sounds that you like, that are associated with semi hollow-body bass, played by a good number of players from then. GAS is ok.

It does meet a few things that I like in a bass. I suppose it being long scale with a regular bridge, I don't have to worry about finding strings for it, other than maybe flats. You can get long scale rounds anywhere, if you're not picky about any particular brand. You know, 20 years ago, I wasn't. I didn't care and usually bought what was cheap, or free if you went to one of those free restringing events they use to have at local music stores many moons ago. Usually, those were probably D'Addario or maybe Dean Markley they'd use, from what I remember. I guess as I got older and more experienced, I started paying more attention to stuff like that. I'm not really sure if that's a good thing or bad.
