You can say that for sure.

I'm locked into the USA Geddy Lee for the number one. Backing up that one is the Spl. Edition White Opal Jazz.

I have to say you've had that one for a long time now. So you think you finally found a bass you won't get sick of and want to get rid of?

Actually both the Jazzes I have now are right there for being around. One of the things I like about the Spl. Edition, the MIM Standard has what I like as a 60's Rock sound. It sounds good at any volume. The same for the USA GL. I'm more apt to go with a Jazz bass anyway.

I haven't looked, but I'm assuming they've ended the run with the Special Edition by now. I wonder how many they actually make before they stop the line?

That's a good question Paul. I never heard myself, exactly how many Fender was turning out of the Spl. Edition White Opal. It was priced out at $599., like the rest of the Standard's. I'm getting a healthy respect for the MIM Basses. The Two I have are flawless.

Maybe they make something like 2000, who knows? Well, if you like the MIM models you've played, then I suppose they might be worth a second look at, as well. In the past, I didn't have great luck with the ones I tried to where they'd be worth the price difference to the Squiers. Maybe they improved, or it could have been the luck of the draw. It's funny for being factory churned out, they're not always exactly the same from one model to the next.

I know if I were to go for a Fretless, or a Precision, it would be a Standard Series. I do believe that have improved on the Standard's. There are a pretty decent number of basses produced in the Fender Mexican factory. The Roger Waters Precision is a great one, and like I've ranted, my two are gems to have.

I though the 50's reissue P Basses and the 60's and 70's reissue Jazz basses look cool, although I know you don't like the neck radius on them. The Roger Waters model looks cool, too. By the way, I heard a new track from him and I liked what I heard. It sounds to me like maybe around Animals era Pink Floyd, but without David Gilmour playing guitar, because you'd know it was him when you hear it. He has that certain sound.

I loved watching David Gilmour play. I swear, I thought he'd stretch the strings right off of the board. An amazing, so gifted player. In "Comfortable Numb", he can go from a quiet subtle pin prik, to a deafening roar. My favorite, along with "One Of These Days", LIVE! I have to admit, when I saw Pink Floyd playing a quad sound system, in the Hollywood Sportatorium, they were probably the loudest I've ever heard doing, "One Of These Days", to open their second set after a 15-20 minute break. Mountain was a close second in volume, Blue Cheer next to Mountain. Felix knew those Sunn's. Pink Floyd used HiWatt's at that time.

Yeah, Pink Floyd had some cool gear back then. If you ever watched "Live At Pompeii" you can get a good close up of that.

We saw "Live At Pompeii", at a midnight show at an old movie theater in North Miami years ago.

I'll bet that was cool to see that in a movie theater. I have the Director's Cut on DVD. I watched it not that long ago. It shows them in the studio making "Dark Side Of The Moon."

I forget almost all of it. It was a a long time ago, and we were really buzzed on smoke and lightning.

Yeah, those things are usually required for the Pink Floyd experience. :P Remember they use to have those laser light shows with "Dark Side Of The Moon," back in the 80's, I think it was? It was them and Led Zeppelin, but I never been to any, but heard about them advertised on the radio. I think they were at planetariums, from what I remember. It could have been just in the Tampa Bay area that had that and I'm not sure about anywhere else.

Speaking of Pink Floyd, I was looking at the Roger Waters P-Bass last night and thought it looked pretty cool. GAS? :P
