I don't know what's harder to find, the short scale or medium scale strings. I know a lot of companies, like Ernie Ball, or Dunlop, don't even make them. They just do long scale.

I'd check out D'Addario, and La Bella. I know D'Addario does short, and mediums. In Nylons too. La Bella does shorts, not sure how much they do in mediums though.

Yeah, La Bella make all kinds of string sets, including nylons in different colors.

As for a bass I've been going back to, it's my Schecter, since it's the only one that's fully functional right now. I did pick up my Telecaster last night for the first time in ages. I just noodled a bit on it, but I haven't seriously bothered with playing any guitar in a long time. I played it more when I was recording demo ideas on a 4-track, but that thing quit working, so that was the end of that for now. Have you noticed a theme that I have with my gear? Most of it has issues. As long as my amps work and I have at least one bass, I'm doing OK. Knock on wood. Those I need to have more than anything else.

Schecter Basses are solid Axes. Your Telecaster would be my choice for playing a six stringer for sure. La Bella Strings are well made, and they do give a wide choice selection of strings. Including Beatle Bass, (Hofner style) strings. I may have gone with La Bella Nylons for my Jazzes, but I like the ETB92 D'Addario Nylons I can buy locally.

That's the thing you can do that is more difficult for me, buying strings locally. There's music stores, including Guitar Center, over in Warwick, where I'd have to cross the toll bridge and drive for 30 minutes to get to if I want to have strings. I use to do that years ago, but I just order them online, and they wind up being cheaper, even though I might have to wait a couple of days to get them, depending on where I buy them from and their availability. I live on what's technically an island (albeit, a big one,) so I do have to go over a bridge to get to the mainland part of Rhode Island. The sad thing is there was at least 4 music stores when I first moved here, since this was a big music place, also being the home of the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, but long gone now. The economy tanking 10 years ago or so didn't help that situation, any. I do have to say the local night life scene has picked up again around here the past couple of years and there are places to see live music and all of that. I'm not sure how a music shop would make it around here, though. I suppose there are some local musicians around, so who knows?

I am I guess in a little better location than some are. Some of the strings in stock at local stores is just by luck that they have them in stock. The ETB92 long scale Nylons are at SA because the Guitar Dept. Manager and myself both licked them. He's long gone, but the strings are still being sold. Short scales, ETB92S Nylons are ordered through GC.

We don't have a Sam Ash in Rhode Island, unfortunately. There's one in White Plains, New York that we'd gone to before doing some gigs in NYC a few years back. That was a pretty good store, at least back then.

Some stores can be iffy over times. Good to bad, etc.

I was almost able to get a Jazz in place to not hurt my right side to play today. It's still a bit too much lifting the right arm, and hold in place to play. I guess I'll try again in a day or two. At least I got the Spl. Edition out of it's case for a while. I'm really liking this bass.
I like the finish on that one. I take it the pick guard isn't original, is it?

Sorry Paul, I missed this post. The White Pearloid on it, is the original PG.

Yeah, depends on who's working there or running it at the time.

Yeah,..... you're so right about that too. I've seen the local GC be like a yo-yo with the managing of the store. Also the people they hire to work the floor in it.

Thanks Paul. Now I'm going to have Night Mares about that one. That almost doesn't look so fictional. Scary too!
