Now they got bass amps so compact, it's not much of a hassle to have a back up head that you can even carry in your gig bag.

That's for sure.

It seems like the sky's the limit these days. I never would have imagined most of this stuff even 20 years ago. Trace Elliot has this tiny amp coming out called "The Elf" and it's 200 watts and weighs 1.1 pounds. I think you could practically fit in your back pocket.

I'd almost be afraid to plug that little thing in.

Yeah, it's a far cry from what a 200 watt amp was even 20 years ago.

Isn't that the truth.

The USA Geddy Lee Jazz, is the one I keep going back to. And that go back to bass sounds fantastic through the Markbass Mini CMD 121P / NY 121 setup. Image

I'm really getting the hang of the short scale of the hollow-body violin bass. I've been putting a lot of time on it, so I've been getting use to the smaller real estate of the neck and fret board. I haven't plugged it since the last time we did a rehearsal. I haven't really needed to, since it's pretty loud acoustically. That's the great thing about that bass, I think.

Good to hear that you and the violin bass are getting along. I bet it's a monster going through the Orange head. Did you get a chance to restring it with the Flats? Violin basses do sound, and play fine with either Flats, or Nylons. Image

Not yet. I think I should be able to order a set this week. Funds were a little tight last month, even to spare for bass strings.

A fender JA90 thinline I put a bigsby on. At the time I got it, I brought it on a whim, I was flush with cash, and I wanted a thinline for no other reason than I wanted one. When I got it it was 4th in line behind my 2 dream telecasters and a strat.

Now, I've been in a band the last 6 months, and I've never been to a practice without the JA90. Use it for 80% of the set, couldnt gig without it. For a guitar I didn't really need, it's pretty addictive.

It's tough to knock a Telecaster. One of the finest guitars Fender ever made. Image
