You mean the wiring in the inside? Yeah, that could be possible. I've had a jack corrode on me in Florida and some dude I was in a band with fixed it so I could play the bass. Lucky for me, because I only had that bass to play with. I didn't have the gear I have now. That's one thing I can say I'm fortunate for these days.

I was actually thinking about the contact prong on the jack itself, snapping off, when you plugged in to play it just now.

That could be possible. I should unscrew the jack and see if that's broken, then.

It sounds stupid, but I've seen it happen.

Oh yeah, I believe that. Stranger things have happened.

That's true. Electrical instruments do seem to do the strange things.

You really pegged that one. Amp failures are interesting too, to say the least. I'll take a tube amp failure, over a SS failure, any time.

Why is that? They cheaper to fix? That would be ironic, considering they're more expensive to buy.

The tube head failures, were usually tube failures, requiring a tube replacement. With the SS, who knows what the problem is, short of opening it up on a bench to do diagnostics on it.

That's a good point. I think the worst thing to go is probably the transformer. That thing is an expensive fix. I know, I had one fry on me when I had an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro head.

The tubes are bad enough, but like you said, the transformer can be the head banger for fixing in the tube head.

Yeah, hopefully I'll never have to go through that again. Probably if I did, I'd just get a new amp. You can buy amps so cheap these days, so it's not worth it, unless the price of those has gone down to for repair.

It's not a bad idea to keep a SS as back up to a tube anyway.

I have the White Opal Jazz as a back up for the Am. Std. Jazz. I just like the White Opal Jazz anyway.

Now they got bass amps so compact, it's not much of a hassle to have a back up head that you can even carry in your gig bag.
