The hollow body is doing pretty good, although I am rethinking about using rounds with it and using flats like I usually do. I don't know, I guess I'll play it by ear. The Squier is a Jazz and I have Rotosound flats on it. They feel pretty good and sound pretty good on there, that's probably why I'm thinking about putting flats on the hollow body.

I'd either use flats, or Nylons. The Hofners did well with either one strung on them.

I may not go back to the Olympic White Mustang PJ. This one's a tough one. The Jazzes are playing well.

Were you thinking about getting it again?

Possibly some day in the future. I played the USA Geddy Lee Jazz through the SB / SVT yesterday, and it was amazingly the tone I like. Two 12's are really nice with a tube head that has some balls to it. The Jazz is not to be forgotten in there either. The Am. Std. is going through it in a few minutes. Image

You know, it's been awhile since you've had a Ric. :P You know, I was joking around, but I would still like to have one someday. Maybe if I win the lottery or something. They aren't cheap.

Sure. Image
I'm pretty much out of the Rics, but I would advise, if you ever do decide to do a Ric, please make sure you play it, try it out. Don't order one on line. There are some little things that aren't always what they should be on a high priced bass. Frets aren't always dressed as they should be, the G string is sometimes set to close to the edge of the board, stuff like that. They are nice though. I always would go back from a Ric, back to a Fender Jazz. Jazzes and myself get along pretty well. Image

Yeah, maybe sometimes they might rush something through to get finished because they have had such a backlog with orders. I don't know how they are doing these days. The last time I looked, they seemed to have had instruments in stock. That's one company that never outsourced themselves and kept it a family operation. It's amazing they were able to do that with all of these years.

They charge enough, they should be able too.

That's for sure. I know they're roughly $1000 more than what you could get them for back in the mid 90's, but I suppose there is inflation to consider.

I really don't know what they base the price increases on, but I always like I said, kept on going back to Jazzes. After a while it sinks in, old man, stay away from the Rics. 8)

Yeah, I got a Jazz or two, myself. Pretty solid instrument. 8)

When I compared the 4003, to the Jazz, the Jazz played, and sounded more to my liking.

Some day though, the Olympic White Mustang PJ, might be back in the mix. I still have a set of ETB92S Nylons for one.

Would you get another model, or the one you had before back?

It would be a new one. The other one is gone. But definitely an Olympic White.
