That would be my best best. You can't usually return strings when they're opened, so I'll have to be absolutely sure.

Yep. That's a problem. I'm glad I only use Long Scales on my stuff. I takes out the guess work, and there are more options in string configurations too.

This will actually be my second short scale bass that I even had. I had some Jaguar body shape copy that I had got from the same company probably 10 or 11 years ago. They still sell them and are even cheaper than the one I'm getting. It had a really nice neck on it, but the pickups weren't that great sounding. Although, it could have been the amp I was using at the time, that didn't help the tone. I wound up donating it to charity, since I had gotten more instruments and it wasn't really suited for anything other than messing around with. It had a standard bridge on it, so I didn't have to worry about getting short scale strings for it and them not being long enough for it.

True, basses and amps don't always play well together. Sometimes I moved the wrong way, I needed to changed out the amp, and I should've hung on to the bass, or basses. Image

That can happen. It's not always the bass.

You're so right Paul. I do have to admit, the Hartke KB15 does great with the Fenders I have.

I imagine the aluminum in the 15" cone adds to that. I've used a couple of their 4x10" aluminum cabs many moons ago and they sounded pretty good. I use to have a Hartke B20 practice combo that sounded pretty good (with the exception of that bass I had,) but wound up being unreliable, so that put me off to their amps a bit. Although, I have played through a few of the HA series and got good tones with them.

I had some Hartke heads that I didn't like with Hartke cabs. No telling what matches up with what better than others.

That's true, even though they are the same company, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll like the combination of the two. Other than Peavey Mark IV head, I've never had a bass head that had the matching brand cab. That had to do with economics more than anything else, though.

I think that's why for me, the Combo is, Here It Is Fool, play it. The sound is what it is as one unit. You either like it or you don't. I can't gripe about the head this, or the cab that.

It's certainly portable, too.

Yes it is at 35 pounds. The 15" HyDrive Neo doesn't hurt a bit for that.

Standing. I play better standing. That reminds me, to keep a strap in the car in case they get a Mustang in house.

I have been keeping a strap in the car, and today it was worth it. I tried a Torino Red Mustang PJ at a local store. A good playing bass. This Olympic White Mustang PJ is going to ship for delivery after the Thanksgiving Day holidays.

You're not keen with red basses?

No,...... not really. I'm not knocking it, it's just not grabbing me like the Olympic White is. I usually go with Olympic White as a first choice on most Fenders. The Sea Foam Pearl on the Spl. Edition Deluxe PJ Precision has has me liking it a lot more than before. If that were a Mustang color option, Olympic White would possibly come in second to it. I'm glad they eliminated the competition (racing) stripes from the Mustangs.
