That reminds me of when I use to carry plectrums with me, because my friend who is a guitarist, always forgot or lost his, and we'd often frequent guitar shops. I'm surprised that I didn't carry drum keys, since drummers would often not have one when they need it. :P

At one time, I was a walking, talking instrument parts guy. A Zippo lighter was always in there, some where too.

Yeah, you never know when that can come in handy.

A good Zippo lighter always worked.

Twist ties too. And Pinball completes the scene. Image

My brother once rigged the rear view mirror of his car with twist ties. :P The funny thing was he was actually capable of fixing up things like that, but he was being lazy, I guess.

Before twist ties, the big postal rubber bands were used a lot. Some what pre Velcro too!

It's definitely going to be one of four Fenders, since I sold the Hofner. The Hofner sounded ok, it just wasn't to comfortable for me to play.

That's a nice collection. 8) The funny thing is I'm going to get a violin style bass after all. So much for the Squier, at least for now. :P

Go for it. I liked the Hofners sound, but it was just to uncomfortable to play.

Well, my girlfriend changed her mind about me using a short scale hollowbody with her music and she was the one who said about me getting this. It's not the Hofner, but it's dirt cheap ($150) and I've read a couple of decent reviews and there's a video I found to where it sounds pretty decent to me to take a chance. They came in sunburst, black, natural, and a white one, but that's $160. I decided I'm going for the black one. At least now I've finally am going to get a hollowbody after all of these years.

The link to the product page:

The video I found:

The guy is using rounds on it, but of course flats will be a must.

NICE. It has a Jazz size nut too. The weight looks good too at about six pounds. The Black looks great. Flats, or Nylons would be cool.

Yeah, either one would work. Gives it that extra thump, I think. I think I'm going to try the nylons on the Jazz first. They are heavier than what I typically use, so I'll have to get use to that. Do you think short scale strings will fit on that violin bass, or do I have to get special ones designed for Hofners, even though it's a copy. It has regular tuners on it, not the guitar type ones. You think short scale will also be long enough, or do I have to go medium scale because of the bridge set up?

At 30&1/3 inches, I would think either would work. I'd probably go with Medium Scale, since what I've seen on short scales, the silks are going up higher away from the nut. You may need to ask the string manufacture on how they will fit. They may ask you to measure from the top of the ball to the base of the nut.
