Those FL Troopers looked good with their Stetsons, and they're .357 Magnums. They ride alone to some pretty remote areas at times.

Mountie hats are pretty much ceremonial today. When I was much younger and rode a half Arabian/half quarter horse, I had a Stetson, Marky. Not so sure them chapeaus look so tough today though. Around here you’re just as likely to see a Stetson wearing grain farmer sitting in a combine with his GPS and stereo, while the rancher or chuck wagon driver has his shredded John Deere
baseball hat or toque on. Why heck, you are just as likely to see a ball cap in Nashville as you are a cowboy hat in New York or on Hollywood and Vine. I wouldn’t show up at the OK Corral for a gunslinging fight in one them thar LBJ whatchamacallit Western hats though. :P

I'm thinking about going back to the Squier Jazz Bass for a bit, not that I really played it much in the first place. It was kind of this transitional bass that I got between some other basses and it got relegated as a back up, or secondary instrument. I definitely want to plug it into the Ampeg the next time I fire it up. I've never actually plugged it into that amp before, but I have through the Rumble 350 combo.

I have been. I've put in some serious time on it, already. Although, I did pick up the violin bass, earlier.

That's a good idea to work the Jazz back into your playing. Image

I might make it my main instrument, unless I want a hollow body sound. The cool thing about a Jazz neck, it's thin enough so it's not too weird to go back between that, and the violin bass. I'm not sure what I want to do with the Ibanez short scale yet. I mainly want to condition myself with playing a long scale again, that's the main thing. I can see why you were having an issue with a Jazz Basses weight, though. That thing does have some heft to it, in comparison. I can handle it, though. I usually don't play standing up, unless I'm jamming with the Ampeg, and the drums.

The Jazz design neck is a pretty friendly one. The Epi EB-0 I have, has basically a short Jazz neck on it. Except the 12" radius board. I can honestly say, the extra 3.5 inches of neck length on a Jazz, never bothered me. I stand all the time when I play. It just feels better to me. When I did studio work, standing always worked out better.

If I were you, I'd hang on to the Talman, in case you want to do a short with a solid body. If it doesn't have a Humbucking on it, that would be a good one to instal a Humbucking on. 8)

When I've recorded, it's easy to be seated, because of the way our setup is situated. I've been getting used to the longer neck now, as well. I suppose the one good thing about it, it's certainly easier to get strings for it, although I've noticed there have been more short scale bass strings available on the market these days from different companies.

You know, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the Ibanez at this point. Probably nothing for now. It's not like I've had the best of luck moving gear, anyway. Look how long it took to sell the Orange head. Then again, I did move a lot of the basses a lot faster than that. Another thing, is I'm going to avoid a lot of people right now, because of this virus, so less contact with others, the better.

Long neck on a bass is pretty much the standard length any more. But like you just stated, short scale strings are becoming more available. Thats taken long enough, having had short scales over the years, its been a royal PAIN!

I know the Orange didn't sell fast at all. Paul, I would have had better luck selling ice cubes to Eskimos, then selling the Orange. The Orange amps are more of a somewhat specialized bass amp. Regular guitar Orange amps are probably more popular, and easier to "Lets Make A Deal" with. Kinda'.,,,,,,, Maybe,.... Image

I've noticed there are more short scales coming out, as well. Even Ernie Ball has at least two models for their Music Man basses, including with their budget line. Right now, I've been concentrating on the Jazz, so I can get used to it like I did a short scale. I've been coming along with it pretty well, though. It's not like I'm trying to play a 5-string bass, or something like that.

Yeah, I had it for a while, even at one point thought I'd just keep it, but luck came my way, with the right place at the right time. Oddly enough, like I got that amp in the first place.

I suppose, but I think if anything, I'd try to get rid of some stuff and get another Jazz Bass, if possible, so I have two. That's of course if I can sell anything.

Just be careful what ever you do sell, stays sold. And doesn't reappear on the horizon again. Image

Yeah, I know what you mean, but most things I've ever had and sold never returned. I suppose the only basses I've had more than once are and were Jazz Basses and Precisions, and even those weren't exactly the same, other than the Fender and Squier logo, with Squier being the one I have now, and the last Precision I had. Back in the day, I used to be able to afford Fenders, but they weren't $1000 back then, even for a USA model. I suppose that's all relative to inflation, though. I paid $450 for my first Jazz, which was a 1977 model, back in 1988, and that was obviously used. Now, they go for around $2000 on the vintage market. Hell, maybe I should have held on to it, then. :P
