No, it didn't have any issues at all. The Peavey Zodiac bass is the one with the ground hum issues. I think I got that Squier Precision bass to replace that, but then I got into playing the violin bass, or I think I might have sold it to pay for a bass cab, maybe even the Fender 4 x 10" I have now. Or was it the 2 x 10" cab I got from that, and wound up selling that and the 18" cab and got the Fender? You know, I'm not sure, other than I do know I sold the Squier to get the Ibanez, that much I can confirm. I was sort of juggling gear around a bit a couple of years ago, I guess.

Yeah, I probably should have avoided some of those purchases in the first place, but you know how that goes.

Yeah, you'd think we'd learn by now. :P Actually, I think I have to some degree. Sure, I probably should not have messed with getting that 18" cab, but I didn't know it was going to be problematic in that situation. It might have worked in a different circumstance, though. If I was playing in a bigger room, or something like that. Other than that, I don't think my amp choices were bad. In fact, I made out really good on those, even the Orange head. Basses maybe not so much.

I would think in your case, the 18 was maybe the furthest move to what you needed. I do know what you mean though, about thinking it would have been good for something that didn't pan out. Been there too many times.

I suppose the only way you can find something out is try it out, but then that can wind up costing some $$$.

Basses, and amps don't usually sound the same at home as they do in the store. It can be tough finding what's correct.

That's true, or maybe when you get them in gig environments, and/or full rehearsal situations.

Usually in places where the sound displaces better.

That can certainly vary, as well.

One thing I did like about playing something at the old MAE Music Store in Fort Lauderdale, it was smaller in room volume, so it sounded closer to most practice room sizes were.

I imagine that would be handy, to give an approximate idea. Is that place still around, or are they gone?

MAE is still around, but in a bigger location, west of the old location. Still on Davie Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

That's good to know that they managed to stay in business, when a lot of them are gone now. Bringe Music in St. Petersburg, which was my old haunt that I got most of my gear from in the early days, is still around. I think the last time I've even been in there (when I still lived in Florida) was probably 1994. The guy that worked there I was briefly in a band with, and he was the one who let me use that Gallien Krueger 800 RB head with the Sonic 2 x 18" x 2 x 10" cab that I've talked about before. He had a rehearsal space set up in the garage in his house, with that, and everything else, including a PA system. I never had to bring my own amp, and why would I even want to? That thing was a beast. I'm glad I never had to move it, though. :P
