My local SA is the only one in the area that keeps the ETB92 Nylon series strings in stock, and those are only the ETB92 long scale. So yes, I do have to order the ETB92S online. From the couple sites I order from, GC is one of the few that keeps the entire ETB92 Nylon string series in stock at GC.com. Not to many places stock much in the way of short scale strings anymore, as you may be seeing for yourself since you have been doing more of the short scale basses. I feel very comfortable playing a short scale, 12" radius bass again. The flatter the fretboard, the better for my playing, with my short fingers. Clean, and quicker.

Yeah, I've noticed that with the strings, especially short scale. AMS does carry a few different sets of them, with a couple of different brands. I've noticed the medium scale ones are even rarer to find around than the short scale. Unfortunately, you need those to be able to fit on a violin type bass, because of the way the bridge is. Although, I do believe GHS has remedied that issue with their strings, by making them slightly longer so you don't have to do that. At least someone has done something about that.

I saw that you can buy D'Addario strings directly from their site, too. I was looking at it yesterday. They have some sort of points system to where you can use those to get more strings, or whatever. Have you looked into that?

Yeah, I've checked that out buying direct, but they would charge tax, plus shipping. For as little as I need only the two sets of Nylons, it's cheaper to just go with GC.com. I can't knock GC for the service they do for me, and do well for keeping the Nylons in stock. Image

What about their points system? I suppose that's only for their store to use that? I think if you get enough points, you can use that like cash, but like you were saying with the shipping and all of that. I don't know if the points cover that or not.

I'm not sure, but like I said I don't order strings enough. The two sets I just got in, may be the last sets of strings I order anyway. These Nylons last a fairly long time. One set on the EB-0, and the other set as a backup. I also have the factory steels that came off when I strung the EB-0 with the Nylons.

That's a good point. I suspect your nylons are like the flats, where they last a lot longer, or even sound better with age, than you'd have with rounds, which you typically would want to change out more to have their sound.

D'Addario even states, the ETB92 Nylon series strings have a deep, mellow tone, with a Flat string sound. Yep, they do last for awhile, and the sounds get better a long the way with them strung. It's a win / win for me.

That's true, since those aren't exactly the cheapest string type to buy. I suppose if I ever decide, or able to try a set of them, it would be for the violin bass. I think those would work rather well for that.

If you ever decided to go for a set on the Violin, the ETB92M would be your size D'Addario string for it.

I take it those are the medium scale ones, then. I was looking those up, and Epiphone actually has those equipped on their Masterbilt De Luxe Classic bass. They mention that in their specs. http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Electr ... tring.aspx That's one bass that I wouldn't mind playing, even more so than a violin bass. I've always liked that 30's Art Deco sort of thing, especially those old arch tops. Add that one to the GAS list. :P

Nice Epi for sure. Funny how they list the ETB92M strings as being strung on it, but not shown in the pics of it.

I noticed that, as well. They're probably using an old pic for that. I don't think they originally put those strings on there when that bass first came out. Those look like the strings you'd typically have for acoustic bass guitars. My Ibanez acoustic bass has those on them. That's a bass I never play. I suppose if I ever needed one, at least I have it on hand.

I did some playing with the Nylons on the EB-0. Excellent! Image

Did you need to do any adjustments after putting those on?
