I've never seen them live in any context, even though they are still around. I guess they are in Mark 8 or 9 now. Jon Lord is long gone, sadly. I always thought that was cool how his keyboards sounded almost like a guitar cranked through those Marshalls.

Speaking of guitar amps, I was looking at AMS and seeing what they had for a cheap combo (I think that's probably the best option,) with decent volume, and not a lot of BS to deal with. There's a couple that could work out, I think.

The last Deep Purple album I bought was, Perfect Strangers. I like it. I always liked seeing them live.

I hope you find a suitable lead amp, without breaking the bank.

I have a couple in mind which are a Fender, Vox, and a Randall, which is usually known for heavy metal type stuff, but it's 80 watts, and simple setup, and even a DI output. The Fender and Vox are those modeling amps with the built in FX, but all of them are under or $299.99 at AMS. I did see someone selling a Fender Frontman 212R locally for $150. That's a 100 watt SS combo with 2 x 12" speakers. I remember they were making those for a long time and discontinued them only a few years ago, before they came out with the Champion series, which that new Fender is, but 50 watts, and a single 12" speaker, and modeling/FX. There is that used option like that, but I generally don't like to do that, if I can help it.

The Fender Frontman series amps are good.

Yeah, I read a lot of positive reviews about them at the time. That could be a possibility, unless it is already sold.

I used one with a 10" speaker when I was messing around with the SG 6 stringer a year or two ago. Probably to small for what you need, but the Frontman Series are a solid Fender Amp Series.

Well, I think I can get by with at least 40 watts, unless I wind up with a tube amp (highly unlikely, because of the cost,) which I could do 18 watts, which is what the Super Champ is that I won't be using live. I wish they still made the Frontman series, since I did like the simplicity of that, a basic SS guitar amp that I don't have to worry about. Plug in and play. I'm sure all of the bells and whistles and amp models is cool, but it's not needed, since I do have effects pedals, and I'm kind of lazy when it comes to having to scroll menus and program stuff. :P

Me too, Paul. I have a Mustang practice amp and I have to admit that I was enthralled by all the cool stuff it could do. But, it didn't take me long to realize that it wasn't for me. Like you said, all that stuff can be cool but I don't like it. I prefer a simple amp. I'd love a Blues Junior or Princeton but they are out of my budget.

I also think there's a thing called the burden of choice, to where if you have too much stuff to choose from or deal with, it just makes things more difficult, or time consuming. Some people like that and it's no problem for them, though. I guess it all depends on what your true needs are, realistically.

That's what I liked about it. A plain, simple amp.

I suppose it's cool you actually get all of that, for not a lot money (for amps, anyway,) but I'm not sure if that's something I want to really mess with or not. I guess I'll do some research into it, and see. That's also part of the fun, I think. Doing research, watch videos, read comments, like in forums, or whatever. You know, that's how I wound up here in the first place. In 2012, I was looking at the Fender Rumble 350 combo, because I needed a bass amp, so after searching around the web, I started reading forum posts on those amps, and joined up, albeit on another account.
