Back to the subjects at hand. I'm having a bit of a weight issue with the Player Jazz doing a number on this old man's back. I'm thinking I should possibly try using another strap to see if that distributes the weight a bit better.

I know the feeling well. I don't think a different strap would do it because you'll still have the weight. I ran into this with my 10+ pound Les Paul Custom. I play sitting down now.

I wish you good luck with your back, Glenn.

I think I may try playing earlier in the day. The back may be getting a bit worn out later in the day. Old age catching up here. I've tried sitting as i play, and I definitely play better standing. In studio sessions early on, standing was the way to play also.

That might be helpful.

What's wrong with that amp, it's volume drops out when you're playing on it?
Excuse my off topic for the answer.
It has to do with switching from any preset to another. The presets’ volume may be different from each other or the same as intended, but a drastic initial change (very low) in preset volume means an adjustment at the amp is required. Once that is done, no problem and good to go where it will stay until the preset is changed. A switch to the next preset may or may not present a similar fault or a correct preinstalled volume. It could continue working fine for some time.

I cleaned out all of the presets with an amp reset, and whether it’s the original presets or added Fuse or custom made presets at the amp or the last update, it makes no difference. A minor annoyance for an otherwise
great amp for it’s purpose. IMHO

I can see why that would be.

Playing earlier in the day is a very good idea. That way you'll be able to play comfortably and your back will be too sore to do chores. I was never good enough to be a studio player and disability put me in a chair. I like to play sitting down now. I'm a righty and I put a block under my left foot and rest my guitar on my left leg, like classical guitarists do. It positions my guitar closer to where it would be if I were standing. I guess we adjust and get used to things.

That's right about adjusting to things we get used to.

The Epi EB-3 showed up today in pristine condition, and weighs in at 7.8 pounds. Just about 2.5 pounds lighter than the Player Jazz was.
