I know. Don't you hate when there's a really good deal or sale on something, but you're too damned broke to get it, or it happens right after you bought it, or something else. Like say you bought a Jazz bass, then like a week later, they have some huge sale or rebate thing, and they knock an extra $100 off, or whatever. Another example, AMS will send me these email coupons for something like 10% off of a purchase of $50 or more, but not when I'm able to, or want to get something from there.

Then there’s my lesson learned. Waiting for something to go on sale because it’s the end of the run, like expecting a new amp or guitar to replace the one you have your eye on, or seasonal (not so with musical gear though). I’m looking for a small storage shed, and the one I need is not much less than a larger one at the same cost. Hoping for a fall sale, but the stock or size may not be available. Stuff changes and not always for the better. Often earlier models have more introduced features or are better built for less. Maybe colours change. So, you buy what’s out there and maybe pay more not knowing the future or territory.

Have you ever bought something, sold it, and found a huge jump in retail cost? I did in my 20s. A winter ready class C motor home (six batteries and foamed undercarriage) when the type was first introduced, sold it 3 years later at a small loss, and new ones doubled on the dealers’ lots shortly after when popularity was proven. :?
Coulda bought some nice guitar gear with that.
I guess that’s what hording is all about  Then again, you could get stuck with the booby prize.

Yeah, it happens all over the place. Then you have those coupons for the grocery store where you have to buy two or more of something to get a discount. Save $0.50 when you buy 10 bottles of ketchup. :P

Yep Paul, I'm very thankful I was able to acquire this setup, at just the time it worked out for the best.

Besides putting a lot of time on the Ibanez Talman short scale today, I decided to mess around with the Squier Telecaster Custom for a bit, too. I've been knocking around some ideas, going back between the two. Sometimes, I'll come up with some chord progression, then I'll come up with a bass part to it, or the opposite. I don't consider myself a guitarist at all, so it's more or less kind of an accent to my bass playing, if that makes sense. Kind of a reference tool, to give a general idea for something. Although, I have doubled on guitar for some songs, but it was pretty basic stuff. Jimmy Page I ain't. :P

That sounds good, Paul. I bet you're a way better guitarist than I am a bassist. A bass player once told me, after we jammed together, that I could easily pick up bass but I don't think that's that case.

I took another brief sojourn to my SG but I'm back to my favorite Strat. I have to say, though, that the SG's Classic 57 pickups sound fantastic. A must have for some songs.

You ever play around with Strats that have the humbucker in them? My Telecaster has a humbucker in the neck position, but I probably would have liked it better in the bridge position, which they have done on a few models.

I have never played a Strat with a humbucker. I have been intrigued by them but never enough try one out. I guess I'm old school and think Strats should be single coil. Maybe I'd change my mind if I played one. Hmm... I have a brand new empty case waiting.
