It stays in tune very well but if it goes out it's usually a little flat. It was kinda strange that it was sharp and that's what made me think it may have been the humidity.

Yeah, I'm 43.

It's interesting the Flaming Lips did a low budget quad thing where it was 4 cds recorded to be put in 4 players around the room. Granted getting all 4 to start at the same time is impossible but I think that was the avant garde concept that you would never have the same listening experience twice.

C/S,
Rev J

Pretty interesting concept, Rev’. Good on the Flaming Lips for presenting an out of the box experience as goofy as it is. New to me.

With two studio turntables to a mixer we used to minutely offset records in the 60s to created flanging. It was a hoot to hear how different recordings worked or didn’t. My guess is this would happen with the Flaming Lips recordings as mentioned. I suppose a transfer to software would be a simple way to sync it; but, then you’d have to have a way of playing back 8 channels of output discretely. Of course if you could listen to each stereo recording separately, and if you had perfect recall, that would work.

I found this article that talks about those 4 discs to create surround sound from the Flaming Lips.

https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums ... ound.7327/

. . . and you’re right, Glenn. Maybe, at least in this case, less is more.
FSB

Hmm? I wonder how Quad would work if 4 bass strings were recorded individually and played back in sync on 4 channels? Maybe 6 or 12 strings broken into 6 or 12 channels?

Good luck recording that.
Aw, fuggedabout it.

On the other hand, it might be money in the bank. 8)

Lemme see. Cymbals in front left and right placed high for Atmos playback, kick Center front, high hat mid right next to the snare a little further back off centre right, toms left and right center, floor tom left back of center, cowbell in your face moving all over the place and a gong at the back. Triangle optional. Yep! That’ll work. Now for a backwards recording with some delay and phasing.

You know, I think someone did have some sort of thing about recording each bass string through different channels, amps, or whatever the hell it was. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. Maybe it was the Grateful Dead, or someone like that.

Michael Manring has a bass that does that and so does Victor Wooten come to think of it I think Steve Morse has a nylon string that does that too. Conklin Guitars put out a system that works with Piezo pickups that will route it out to different outs.

Maybe that's where I heard about that. Probably in some "Bass Player" magazine article, or something.

It must be. Around here, it can go from hot and humid (not really hot so much that it will usually go above 90, but very humid, because I am technically on an island,) and extremely cold and dry, since I'm on said island going into the North Atlantic.

Well, you could always design and sell a series of high fashion toque hats, since it probably won't be long before we're breaking those out again. :P

 Whatta great idea, Paul. :D Lemme run this through ya. Right now they sell big toques with little pompoms. Maybe, I should start off small. I’m thinking maybe a mini toque with a gigantic pompon or a basketball attached in honour of the Raptors. How about a toque with a built in thermometer and a frostbite alarm.? If that doesn’t work, how about a toque (complete with opener) to hold yer beer or Canadian whiskey, eh? They probably have that already. We could make summer ones mosquito proof for the great outdoors. For the brave on cold days, we could make a hot sauce toque. For those 100°+ days we could make them with ice packs so everybody could keep a cool head. Those would be the Arizona model. :P
Thanks, for the idea. We could call the fashion line the Rhode Island toque company just to confoos ‘em.
Cheers!

Hmm. Looks like Florida is a great opportunity to introduce the toque, Glenn. Goes great with a bass. How about a Crimson Tide trend? You could wave toques from the stands like these fans and their hankies. :P

Wasn’t that a Miami thing?

The waving of the white hankies was an early tradition at the old Orange Bowl, for the Miami Dolphins. It didn't originate there though. I don't remember where the Miami Dolphins got the White Hankies waving from. Then shortly after that, The Steelers infamous, "Terrible Towel" emerged.

Felix Pappalardi with Mountain, wore a toque hat on stage a lot. I've had them myself on, and off through out the years. There's a Navy Blue one around the house, somewhere. And God only knows where that is in this house.

Well, down in Florida, it's like rare as rocking horse poop that you'd even need to wear one. I certainly never did.

Believe it or not, there were a few windy, cold winter days here, that justified the wearing of one. Rare, but it was cold with the winds, and the higher humidity.

I do remember when it snowed there in 1978. That was weird.

Good one, Glenn. Felix knows his fashion and has swag.

There’s some confusion as to what a toque is or isn’t or why it is rare in the U.S. This may explain it:

I think beanie is misused. A beanie with a propeller was known when I was a kid; but for me about 65 years ago a beanie was like I wore. It was a multi coloured felt bowl hat with (or without) turned up sharp pointed scalloped edges. You pinned and hung small collectable and odd trinkets and buttons to make it one of a kind swag. Usually, you didn’t mess with a kid that had one.
Golly gee. I hate to compare Florida with California; but, here’s what became fashion out west on the beach.

Obviously, toques are a guitar accessory and a must for the whole enchilada with players.

Florida today, and maybe England, tomorrow the world. :P I’d like to see Kim Jung Un in one doing the Gangum Style, and then I’d like to see him dance off stage. :P

FSB
The toque ambassador.

In the USA contact Rhode Island’s Paul before they’re outa stock.
