That PG looks great, Glenn. I think you made an excellent choice.

That's true. That does look like a nice example of one, as well. 8)

I didn't know you had a Les Paul Custom, but I do remember you mentioning an SG previously. How long have you had the Les Paul for?

I got my Les Paul Custom about 10 years ago. I bought it used from a local music shop. It's a 2006 Black Beauty with a terrific ebony fingerboard and 490R/498T pickups. It's a bit of a beast though weighing in at over 10lbs. I loved it, at first, but it wasn't long before I lost interest in it. That's probably why you haven't heard me mention it before. I rarely play it these days.

I'm surprised you didn't try to sell it, but then again, there's always the fact if you did, you'd regret it later. I know that tune very well.

For sure. I have a friend who loves it and made me an offer on it but I just couldn't do it. Like you said, I've regretted selling a couple of my guitars and I knew that, if I sold my LP, I'd never be able to replace it.

Thanks Marky. It looks ok. The first time I saw it in the store, I could see it with the Black Moto PG on it. It did look pretty cool with a Brownish Tort PG too. I just personally like the Black Moto over most PG's any more.

That must be a real beauty. Ebony fretboard, and all.

The Gibby LP is an iconic guitar for sure. Your weapons of choice are a fine gathering with the SG and your Strats, especially your latest Player Series beauty, Marky. I’ve thought of buying an LP down the road, and haven’t ruled it out; although, it would likely be a used one. Weight certainly is a consideration as I’m not Hoss Cartwright nor do I have Jimmy Page jeans. Still nice to have for those occasions to get the sound that, questionably, only an LP can give. I know there’s another Strat out there for me should I choose to let my Amn. Dlx. go. There might even be a less expensive better one, and most likely cheaper than the LP or my Strat’s current equal.

Recently I was offered a rental car upgrade to a very popular foreign luxury hot car. The agent was surprised when I turned it down. It wasn’t a good fit for me regardless of the price or reputation. It didn’t turn my crank. Even if I could own it, there wouldn’t be a place in my driveway. A new car and a ‘57 Chevy would probably work though, or two old ones of choice. :P There goes the Strat.
I would still miss the Strat I bonded with and not so much the Taylor. I would certainly enjoy adding a Gibby and a Gretsch and maybe others to my collection; but, I loved Strats ever since my introduction to that streamlined baby in ‘64. The playability impressed me and still does. I got my own in 2012. A month after purchase, I did trade this year old pristine lighter (less than 8lbs.) church played Strat because the colour with the rosewood fretboard clashed for me. Too bad, because otherwise it was a keeper. I bought a new one, and I have to say it’s a fine fit, and I’ve never looked back. Whether I add a Tele or other, there will always be a Strat in my hands. It gives me comfort and makes me warm and fuzzy with the weight (less would be nice), flexibility, sound, and mojo. YMMV.

Nice keepers you’ve got there, Marky.

Cheers!

Besides, you never know you might reconnect with it someday. I've done that a few times with instruments, with leaving them alone for a while, then pick them back up again.

The ebony fingerboard has an amazing feel to it. I have 8's on it now but they are a bit light for my taste and bends feel effortless on the ebony fingerboard anyway so I'll go back to 9's when I restring it. I like 9, 11, 16, 26, 36, 46 on the 24 3/4" scale.

When I want that humbucker tone, I usually play my SG. It has Classic 57/57+ pickups and those are my favorites. The SG isn't one of the best looking guitars, IMO, but I like how it feels compared to my LP. Maybe because it feels more like a Strat, except for the minor neck dive. 8)

That's true, too. One day I may pick it up and say, "hello old friend" and get reacquainted.

Thanks, FSB! I've been blessed with 5 really nice guitars, IMO, and I'm happy with them.

Your Strat is beautiful and makes me want to put on a white PG. :) The shape and feel of a Strat are just right, IMO.
