I've never owned one, just played on one in a shop. They've certainly made a lot of copies of it, like a Jazz, Precision, or Hofner bass, as well.

The Sterling can be a tough choice for me between that, and a Fender Player Jazz. They both do play about the same. The Active EQ on the Sterling, isn't an important item that I really need. A passive Jazz could work out fine as well.

Well, let's face it, you are a Fender Jazz person. That's your been your go to bass, for at least as a long as I've known you. They do have a damned good playable neck on them, I'll have to admit, as long as you have a good setup on them.

I can't argue that about Fender Jazzes being my go to bass. I always seem to do ok with the Fender factory setups. And yes, the necks are very playable. 8)

Still, if you're looking for an active bass, the Music Man is great for that. By the way, that's my favorite finish with that particular series, especially with the maple board. If I were able to get one of those, it would be that. I'm not sure if I'd do the tort pickguard with that finish or not, though. If it were a sunburst, it would definitely be a tort.

I'm going to see which PG I like on the Buttercream. The options I have are, Black, White, Brownish Tort, or my favorite the Fender Black Moto. Decisions, decisions,........ Image

Ever since 2017, I can't stay away from my combo: 2017 American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster and 64' Custom Deluxe Reverb Handwired. I have been playing them at least daily and mostly a straight plug in (recently have been tickled by the use of a Reuss Wine and Roses overdrive pedal). It's been the single most satisfying combo of items since starting to play back in 1985. I have increased the amount of playing I do by two fold in the last couple years.

The guitar I keep coming back to is my Squier Katana. I bought it four and a half years ago, having been a fan of this little oddity since its introduction in 1985. The thing is: in addition to its offbeat, obscure appeal it really is a genuinely terrific guitar. It plays beautifully,it sounds perfect and it’s actually very comfortable to play standing or sitting. I should very much like to add the Fender guitar version and the Squier bass to my collection someday, but I think I will wait for the CITES rosewood restriction to be lifted, as I’ve been warned about the complexity of the bureaucracy of buying guitars with rosewood from abroad.

Last week, I played my Gibson Les Paul Custom, Gibson SG Standard HP and my other Fender Strat but I keep coming back to my newest guitar. My 2018 Fender Player Series Strat (with mods) is my favorite that I play every day. 8)
