Man! I totally forgot about milk crates. They will fit the overall size of the amps cab base better. Image

You got any around? Maybe you might scope some around the back of a Publix, or Winn-Dixie. :P

That's doing it old school, there. It actually works rather well, I think. 8)

It's a great fit. Thanks for reminding me about the crates. It's higher up, and sits in place with more stability than it was on the table top. This is somewhat anchored in place on the crates bottom, that's now the top. WHAT? Image

Milk crates are pretty handy for all kinds of stuff, I think. I guess since they are intended to carry milk containers in them, they can stand up to a lot of weight, so they aren't flimsy, either. I remember I used to have some metal ones, that I got from my dad, and who knows from where, besides that. I imagine they were pretty old, since they're typically plastic, from what I've always seen. Do you remember metal ones being around, instead of plastic?

Yes I do remember the metal ones. The plastic ones are a lot more practical, and easier to work with.

When would you say what year or decade they started using plastic ones?

I really don't remember, they were just there mixed in with the metal ones all of a sudden one day.

I wound up putting some time on the Squier Jazz Bass, earlier tonight. It's a decent player, even though I'm pretty much a short scale bass player these days.

I know what you're saying. I think I'm doing ok getting back to playing a shorty, like when I first started out playing bass.

Those were a lot more common back then, weren't they? At least, from what I've noticed.

Yes they actually were. At the time, I really didn't pay much attention to scale lengths. Some of the more used, and respected basses from then, were shorties. I'm glad the Mustang PJ is back, fully intact. I made a full size Gator case work for the short Mustang PJ.

I'm using a Gator GTSA-GTRBASS (TSA) hard shell case for the Mustang PJ. It's a secure fit for the shorty, in a full size Bass case. It's also easier to find in local stores, and about $30. - $40 Buckaroos cheaper, than a Fender hardshell case made for the Mustang size basses. The neck of the Mustang, fits into the neck channel. Then the base of the head sits on the topside divider, and the top strap button is up against the lower side divider. The bass is held place in the case, almost like it's being hung in a floor stand, by its head.

I don't remember if I mentioned this to you, but that Jazzmaster guitar soft case that I was using for the violin bass also fits the Ibanez short scale, so I don't have to mess with my full size case when I have to transport it. In fact, there's more room in it with that bass, since it's not an archtop design.

That's great. Soft cases are good. As long as you're just transporting one of the basses at a time in the one soft case, you've got it made.
I was trying to find a soft case to use for the Mustang. SA had one Gator that was close for the fit, and cost the same as the Gator hardshell that it fit in better. So Gator hardshell case is what it's in.
