Yes, Gibson dropped the Babicz bridge, and returned to the old style 3-point bridge. By doing that, short scale strings were a good fit again, on the 30.5" neck.

The Epiphone EB bass had the same bridge, too, didn't it?

I believe the Epi EB-0 / EB-3 had, and has the 3 - point bridge. I don't think a Babicz was ever an original factory bridge on Epi's.

Yeah, I went ahead and looked, at that seems to be the case.

I don't remember seeing anything but 3-point on Thunderbirds also.

I think the Babicz was only used on the Gibsons for the 2015 Series. SG Std.'s, and Thunderbirds.

I remember reading something about that, with them changing those specs with those models.

The 2015 was it, then back to the 3-point bridge.

Which bridge did you like better?

I honestly didn't have any preference between the two. The Babicz on the SG Std. was a longer set bridge, so Medium Scale strings were needed for it so the silks seated above the nut. On the Thunderbird, it didn't mater, Long Scale was a fine fit. The Babicz was suppose to be easier to set than the 3-point, and give better sustain. I never really noticed a difference in the two bridges.

I've never dealt with either, other than the couple times I played on those Epiphone basses in a shop, and that had nothing to do with dealing with the bridge.

Some players were never to popular with some players. I never had an issue with them.

I'm going to the Hofner HCT-500/1 Violin Bass. I have one on order.

That's a beautiful bass, Glenn. Hofner makes a fine instrument and they have been around forever. Congratulations!
