I've never seen one in person, but yeah, other than his modifications, it does look like the one I had. I do remember the 3 bolt neck joint, too. I have a couple of pics of me when I was 16 years old holding it. That bass met a tragic, and idiotic end, from what I understand. I traded it for a Yamaha copy of a 335 hollow body guitar to someone I went to high school with, and the guy wound up throwing it up into a ceiling of a club he was playing at, and it destroyed the neck. Not what I'd call a rocket scientist. :P Especially, since it was some BS bar no one even gave a crap about. It wasn't like he was on TV, or something to make it worthwhile for theatrical purposes.

IMHO the 3 bolt neck joint belongs in the design flaw hall of fame. Basic logic is the fewer bolts in the neck joint the less stable the neck. Granted there is such a thing as too much. The 2 Sixers I have (Washburn Bantam, Fender Steve Bailey) have 6 and 5 bolt neck joints respectively.

I don't remember any sort of issue with mine, but I was a newb at the time, so I probably wouldn't have noticed too much, anyway. Yeah, I don't know why they decided on that style, though. Washburn Bantam? I remember those in a music shop I used to go to. I think that was the first time I even seen a 6-string bass in person. How long have you had it?

Since 2002 I think. It was the first bass I bought when I came to California. I also used it to record one of my old bands first demos.

I've thought about using it as a science project putting a Kahler Bass Tremolo in it and putting better pickups and electronics in it. Part of the reason I stopped playing it is that I had to replace the Jack every year in April like clockwork. I traded up a $500 bass to a $2,200 bass and it kinda spoiled me.

I think the 3 bolt neck joint was CBS cutting corners. I've heard a lot of players $@!&* about them.

I'm doing fine with the AC Jazz, and it's working out great to play this style Jazz again.

I really did forget how nice the AC Jazz plays. I may have to hang on to this one.

I actually spent some time playing on both the Squier Jazz Bass, and the Peavey Zodiac bass, today. It's been a while since I've really messed with either, since I've been mainly just playing on the Ibanez Talman short scale bass, lately.

I have to say, the Peavey has a pretty fast neck to it, even though it's a long scale, and has rounds on it, which aren't something I've been that used to the past few years. I imagine if I can get some light gauge flats on it, it will be even smoother, unless I decided to say to hell with it, and toughen up the finger tips, and get used to rounds again, like I used to play years ago. The thing that I like about flats, is I don't have to worry about as much excess string noise, but then again, there's pros and cons to both flats and rounds.

That can be said for almost all strings. Pro, and con. I like Flats, but I love Nylons. Short, medium, longs, makes no difference to me. ETB92M on the Epi Viola 30.5" short scale. The Mediums pull right up above the nut with plenty of space. Image

Yeah, that's the thing with that type of bass, like the violin bass I have, you can't use short scale strings with it, even though it's a short scale bass, because of that bridge situation. At least, that's what I've read about it. Bass strings are too damned expensive to risk buying the wrong size set, and find out they don't fit right. I guess I wouldn't have to worry too much about it now, since I do have a short scale bass that takes short scale string sets, and I still have long scale basses, so it's all covered. 8)

A 2015 SG Std. 30.5 short scale, needed medium scales because of the bridge also.

Was that one of those string through body basses? I've understood that that setup also requires longer strings for it. GHS has actually remedied this by making their strings a little longer, so you can use (theirs, obviously) short scale strings with short scale basses, and so on. I haven't used GHS strings in years, though.

Although, I suspect there might be GHS strings that were put on the Ibanez CT, when it was at the shop. It has red silk ends on it, and as far as I know, only GHS and Rotosound has that on their strings, at least that I've seen. Somehow, I doubt they used Rotosound strings, since those aren't as common around here, but then again, you never know. I was surprised it wasn't D'Addario string on it. That's what used to be the go to for restringing, at least back in the day. Maybe things have changed, I don't know. I haven't been in or dealt with music stores locally in several years.

No, the 2015 SG Std. wasn't a string through, it was the Babicz bridge that was a longer set for the string balls to set into. That brought the string silks slightly lower into the nut slots, instead of above the nut into the head area,

Oh, OK. I remember you got another one not that long ago, but didn't the last one have the original 3 point bridge on it?
