Other than a couple of Violin style Hofners, I'm back with the Viola style, and size bass.

Even short scale basses mostly have a longer neck than 6 stringers. I've been playing bass long enough, that the neck of a 6 stringer just looks to short.

A dandy suggestion. You guys are very creative.

It's hard to go wrong with a Remington Wingmaster.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the carton, and saw the finish on the Epi. Image

It is a fine bass. The price is reasonable also. It's great also that it can handle regular bass strings.

Yeah, that is a good thing. 8) The one thing I did find, at least for the bridge on mine violin bass, it was kind of a pain to string up. You have to get the ball ends just so under it, and hope they stay put. Either that, or I just didn't know what the hell I was doing when I did that. :P

My Viola bridge probably has the same configuration as your Violin does.
The E string was the toughest one, at least until I got the hang of it. The ball end silk of the E string was a bit of a tight fit at first seating into the bridge. Once that took set, it was fine.

Yeah, it wasn't the easiest thing to have to deal with.

A bit frustrating at first, but when I saw how the medium scale Nylons fit so well on the Epi, it was worth it. Image

How is the tension on those strings?

Very good. The strings do well on it.

You know, I might try those string some day, maybe on the violin bass. I think that they would sound especially good with a hollow body.

I think they sound good on everything, but that's just me.
