You had to get rid of the fretless?

I didn't have to, but I did. I played both the Olympic White Jazz, and the Fretless Jazz side by side. I liked the sound of the sound of the Olympic White better. I just wanted to get down to two basses. So it's the Am. Std. Jazz, and the USA Geddy Lee Jazz.

What's wrong with more than two basses? :P

Nothing, I just want to stay with two basses. I don't play that much, so two work ok.

I know what you mean. Most of the time I play either the Schecter or Squier, but then again the other basses need repair. Who knows when I'll be able to get that dealt with? It's a matter of time and money, because I don't know how to fix them and have to pay someone to do so. I suppose I could learn how to solder, but I'd still have to buy the tools and parts to do that. I still have that weird A string buzz on my Peavey, which will have to go to someone to look at. I have no clue about that. I've tried a few things, but it didn't do much.

You're still in the performing part of your playing, so it would make sense for you to have a greater number of basses. String buzz can be a pain in the neck.

The only bass that hasn't had any real use is the Peavey, because of that problem. It's not a bad instrument, other than that, but I'm stuck with it. The only thing I can do is put money into it to see what the issue is. I hope the truss rod isn't broken, or something like that. Then I'd be really screwed with it.

In some cases, you almost have to decide what can I put up with, or what really needs the attention the most.

Right now, my Schecter is probably my best choice, at least for anything professional. The Squier would be a backup, mainly because the pickups are weaker on it, although it's not I don't have the spare volume. I may wind up using it for something, because it does have a more mid range tone. If the other basses where up to snuff, of course I'd use them just as much, because they have different pickup configurations and offer different tones, as well. I can't risk using them professionally, because of their issues. I can't have a bass short out on me if I'm recording or playing live. That would be really annoying and interrupt the flow of things.

That would be a problem having something fail on one of them. The Schecter is a good bass.

Yeah, it's my best, functioning bass, other than the Ultra VI, which is another thing entirely. It's my girlfriend's instrument, but sometimes I try to mess around with it, but I haven't done so seriously. It's like a guitar but tuned like a bass, but plays sort of like both. It does take some getting use to, I think.

With varied brands of basses, it's tough to use parts from one bass to another too.

Yeah, the only two basses that are even remotely close and not even, are the Fender P Bass Lyte and Squier Jazz Bass. That's only because the same company makes them, more or less. If I can't get the neck sorted with the buzz issue on the Peavey (if the truss rod is broken,) then I suppose I could get another neck for it somehow. I don't know if it could be another Peavey, since they no longer make that bass.

Sometimes it gets to the point where you may have to write one off.

I know, but other than that issue, it's a nice bass. I could always try to get another one, if I can find one for sale, because I do like that model. It's not like used Peaveys are expensive.
