Well, that does make perfect sense. It sounds like the whole deal works out pretty good, as long as there's no issues with the amp. It sounds like an ideal set up. 8) I especially like the fact you can use the headphones and not have to plug into a cab. That would be handy for late night recording, or you just want to get a sound from the amp, without dealing with sound coming out of a cab.

You're hearing the sounds not influenced by the speakers. But then again, the headphones have there two cents in the mix. I like not having to move the SVT-410HLF into another room. It's only a 410, but it's a beast.

Yeah, from what you've described of that thing, I agree. I'll bet it can shake a room, though.

That's pretty big cab, even by my standards.

I wonder how long it even took to set that thing up?

I’m betting some speakers were dummies and that the amplification was stable at 2 ohms. Maybe, the whole thing was a projection.
Whatever the case, that was quite an accomplishment. I wonder if any neighbourhood windows broke.

I went back and forth between the violin bass and Ibanez bass tonight, but I can't really decide which one is my "main" bass, since they aren't exactly the same basses, with some similarities, with the short scale, and flatwound strings. I guess it will ultimately depend on what I need for a particular song, etc.

Speaking of flatwound strings, I wound up liking those Dunlop strings so much, I think I'm going to ultimately switch to that brand entirely. I think the next set I'll get will be long scale ones for my Peavey Zodiac bass. I've been messing around with that bass, here and there, and I'd like to try a set of those light gauge flats on it and get rid of the Fender rounds I stuck on there, which wound up fixing the weird A string buzz it had when I had heavy gauge Rotosound flats on it. I'm hoping that with the Dunlops, I'll still not have that issue, and use that bass with flats.

I'm not sure if I want to use it as a main performance bass, since I'm pretty much a short scale bass player now, but I could use it here and there for home use, recordings, and that sort of thing. It does have a good neck on it. I like it better than the Squier Jazz, but it's also a heavier bass, which I suppose gives it a beefier tone.

I played the USA Geddy Lee Jazz through the Ampeg setup today. The guys weren't kidding about the PF-500 having some serious low end tones to it. It does play well through the SVT-410HLF. A win, win with Ampeg.

That sounds like a nice set up, then. 8)

A heating issue is starting on the PF-500. I brought it in for a tech to check out. He wasn't to sure what was going on with it. I'm not taking any chances with the PF. It hasn't had the best of endurances in the past. A Hartke TX600 should be in tomorrow to take it's place.

Congrats on your Hartke TX600, Glenn. I hope you have much better luck with it.
