You know, I've actually thought about trying those on that particular bass, but I'm worried about the thickness of the nylons, in which that might cause that buzzing again, since the flats on it before were thicker.

If you use D'Addario ETB92 Nylons, Short, Medium, or Long scales, the gauge of all is a very standard size, (.50, .65, .85, .105). This is almost getting to be a standard factory size issue string, by a good number of manufacturers.

That is actually pretty thin for nylons. The Rotosound version is a lot thicker then that. I'm not sure what the other brands like GHS or LaBella are in their gauges for nylons.

I'm going to put some time in with the violin bass, today. I've been mostly playing on the Ibanez, so I think it good to change it up again.

It's easy to get into playing the one bass more than the other, or others.

I suppose it just depends on your mood, or whatever happens to inspire you that day.

I've been playing my SG Standard HP a lot lately but my beat up 23 year old MIM Strat has been calling me and I'm going to play it today. I don't know why but I always seem to go back to it.

Strat's, and SG's are hard to beat. Have fun with that Strat! Image

Thanks, Glenn. I played it for about an hour. How sweet it is. :D

I'm still back with the violin bass, although I did pick up the Ibanez for a bit, as well. When I get back to recording, I'll probably be using the Ibanez for that, although I did find out about some amp simulator programs that my girlfriend has with her recording set up, one of which is a Fender Bassman. I'm damned curious to try that out with the violin bass, since that was the amp Paul McCartney used after the Vox amps from the earlier years. Maybe I can get a close approximation of that sound, which would be cool for some 60's style side project stuff. Although, I'd like a Vox sound just as well, too.

That sounds pretty cool about the Bassman on the simulator.

Yeah, I'm very curious to eventually try it out.

That really is pretty cool. Defiantly if you can give it a shot.

It will probably be a while before I can, since there's a ton of other stuff going on to where I probably won't even be using the violin bass, but at least I know that it's there.
