Hey, Paul. Thanks, for the link on that Burns. A longtime friend and I were talking about Burns guitars the other day. He’s not a fan (I just found out a few years ago he traded an average price LP for an original ‘61 Strat), and I am not into Burns other than I find their history interesting. Needless to say I passed the Burns Steer guitar link on to him since we were talking about how funky they can be and that Steer certainly fits the bill.

Thanks. It's nice and light for this old man's shoulder, @ 7.13 pounds. The transition from my Jazzes to playing a Mustang is ok too. It has Jazz size nut, and the radius is 9.5". There isn't any neck dive to it either, so all in all it's a winner over the Gibson SG Std. I had. The Precision pup on it is no slouch either. It put's out a good sound.

Our guitarist has a bunch of stuff like that. Actually, a ridiculous amount of gear. Burns, Danelectro, Guild, Hagstrom, Epiphone, Gretsch, Ovation solid body electrics, and whatever else you can think of. A lot of old crap from the 60's and 70's, and newer stuff. He's like a friggin' music store, with the exception that he doesn't have Fenders, other than a couple of old Fender tube amps. I guess he's not a fan for some reason, but everyone has their preferences. I was using a Danelectro U2 model electric, and Longhorn bass of his, and I thought they were pretty decent players. I was playing the Danelectro U2 through his Fender Deluxe Reverb from the late 60's (the silver face ones.) Talk about getting getting a twang with that set up, especially with the vibrato cranked.

Very cool, Paul.

Your guitarist sounds like my friend and part co-worker whom I was speaking of. It doesn’t hurt that he works with well known artists, and his close friend has connections with the biggest retailer in the country. I have been invited to have a look at his large collection when I get a chance. I’ll bet you have good fun with that step back in time with the vintage gear. Newer gear has it’s own cool vibe. Sometimes, the oddities can be a hoot, and once in a while a truly great combo and charm appears unexpectedly. Music is a beautiful thing. :D

He used to have a lot more, but sold off a lot of stuff. Still, he could practically open his own shop with all of the stuff he has.

I should be back to my Am. Pro. Jazz today with the Black Moto PG installed. The PG is showing up a day early.

I've been playing around with the Peavey Zodiac bass a bit. It's annoying for the fact that I had finally gotten rid of that weird A string buzz, it has a hum from some grounding issue. Put it on the list for things to get fixed. At least the Ibanez CT series bass is being repaired. My girlfriend wanted that one done first, since that was her main bass for years. It is a good player.

That's great getting things back in a better playing condition. I know it's not always the right time to do so, but it sounds like you're mounting up for some work in the near future! Image

That’s always a good thing to get those troublesome fixes out of the way, Paul. As Glenn said, sometimes (for me more often than not) it’s not an appropriate time. But, I like to do repairs and such as soon as possible so the list doesn’t pile up to keep me from getting done what I prefer to do. The problem is that when I spend time or money keeping up the repairs and whatnot it also prevents me from doing what I need or want to do. Well, shoot me in the foot and tear up my list.
FSB

Another dilemma is that the older you get you’ll find those purchases you made early in life will soon be retired at the same time, and sometimes they need repair and can’t be duplicated. Dang! :? Mrs. FSB is finding that with me.

I had the Black Moto PG on the Am. Pro. Jazz for a few hours, and decided to change back to the original Mint Green PG. The Mint Green PG has an almost lighter white hue to it. Image

That all sounds like a great bass indeed, Glenn. Gotta like the weight and balance. If it sounds good, since it looks good, the rest is a no brainer. Good on ya for grabbing this one, Glenn.

Today back onto the top dog. The USA GL Jazz. The Ampeg setup really brings out the best of that Jazz. Image
