Flea from RHCP is one of my favorites with his style of funk and slap bass.

We kinda had this thread going here. http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... sc&start=0

But anyway. The best? I don't know. There has been alot of great bass players, but some of the ones that always seem to be mentioned are:

Jaco Pastorius
James Jamerson
Victor Wooten

of course, there are many, many more.

James Jamerson
Bob Babbitt
Chuck Rainey
Donald "Duck" Dunn
Marcus Miller

John Paul Jones, for laying down a solid rhythm,

The bassist from John Butler Trio (can't mind his name), for my favourite current band,

Jaco as my favourite 'lead bassist'
