Why are all people who don't believe man landed on the moon idiots?
I am entitled to my opinion and besides which, I thought members were to show respect to fellow members ,apparently though some people can't get a point of view across without resorting to name calling

well there are people who believe the holocaust never happened too and don't get me started on the JFK theorists. Funny as I write this I am working at one of the NASA research and testing centers. This place is filled with so many artifacts dating back to some of earliest missions prior to the Mercury missions. Much of the testing was done right here and still is. If this was a hoax it was a wide compassing one that involved years of planning, thousands of people on the take and billions of dollars . No chance that this would have not been exposed at some point by somebody directly involved with real evidence.
People can believe what they want and continue wear their tin foil hat all they want , but don't expect peoples respect when the evidence is so obvious.

No one called anyone an idiot, let's get that straight.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion... !!

But, your opinion is a belief... not a fact.

Belief is a dangerous thing, especially when it persists in the face of discredited evidence upon which it was based.

Some may call such a person an I....

cheers!

What were you referring to below then? :?: Were you calling the thread itself an idiot? Was this clever personification that went over my head?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) estimates that 6% of the US population are idiots... that equates to 19,800,000 people....Threads like this make that estimate seem low... (And... part of the trouble with Idiots is that they don't think they're Idiots, in fact usually the opposite - they actually think they're smart... !!! )

Yep budglo, pretty much everyone knows that. Do you call your CD player a tape deck? Music playing devices were once called tape decks or record players. But nobody calls them that anymore .... because they're something different now.

What, you mean despite the FACTS being that AlumINium and soLder are called that, some people insist (nay believe) that they are called "Aloominum and Sodder" despite the truth being different

What makes anything a fact beyond any reasonable doubt? The majority of the people's belief?

Generally speaking, a fact is something that has actually happened or that is empirically true and can be supported by evidence or repeatability.

OTOH, an opinion is a belief; it is normally subjective, meaning that it can vary based on a person's perspective, emotions, or individual understanding of something.

The majority of People's belief does NOTHING to establish a fact ! The majority of People prior to the late 14th century believed that the Earth was Flat... clearly it isn't. Belief is an opinion.

Reasonable Doubt is a Legal Term and is used as the standard to arrive at a conclusion based on the factual evidence presented.

cheers!
