I have a 1978 Fender Mustang and case, which I've had since it was new in the box when I got it from the factory in 78. I got all the paper work hang tags, etc. I did not know what section to post this in, not trying to tick anyone off. I saw a MIJ competition reissue Mustang in candy apple red with the racing stripes for $499 plus 8% tax yesterday. It is in mint condition. It does not have the bridge cover ( I still have mine from the 78 ) or, the wammy bar. I was contemplating throwing it on a card. I remember seeing this same guitar new for $650 a few years back. I feel this is still too high. I remember in the late 70s being offered two original Mustangs for under $100, at a pawn place in Fullerton, California. The guy told me I could probably walk with both for $80 as I was walking away. I'm glad I did not put it on a card.

I never owned a Mustang, but had a 60s Duosonic that
I liked quite a lot. Top left (Duosonic, Dano, Tele, LP TV Model):

Wish I still had my '71 Mustang in 3-color sunburst (special ordered, didn't like the Competition Mustangs). You can't even buy an old, beat up original case for $80 today. If you haven't seen what prices for '60s and '70s Mustangs go for today, check out eBay. Makes me cry.

One of my long time friends, who I went to high school with , bought a new Mustang in 1975 and he still has it to this very day. I remember going to his house after school where he would let me play it and I always thought it was a great sounding guitar for the buck. Very underrated IMO.

I just ran into this post and realized that I did not post a picture of what my Mustang looks like now. I'm posting this on 11-19-2015. (It has been a awful year for me!) I will also attempt to post a shot of my 59MJ Danelectro
