As someone not adverse to thumb fretting, I like it. Except for the neck heel block which is the big square type, which surely negates some of the benefit of having an extra cut-out. That this guitar of all Fender Teles didn't get the "custom" corner-cut version seems rather odd.

Hmm, yea, not terribly fond of it. Why not just a Strat then?

With a Strat, you don't get thumb access any higher than a regular Tele. It just looks that way. But 17th fret is pretty much the limit on both.
With this Tele, you get thumb (or reverse tapping) access up to the last fret - a significant difference. And one of the reasons why SGs are quite popular.

It's not a new concept for Fender - they had the TC-90s a few years ago:

The purist in me says no.

The rock & roller in me says maybe.

The pragmatist in me will play it as soon as I see one in person.

As a fan of double-cut Les Paul Jr's, I'm intrigued. I'll give this sacrilegious piece of hardware a spin.

I'm on the fence with this one. The double cutaway and front Tele pick up are kind of a strange concept to me. It's like I'm expecting to see a P90 or humbucker there instead. It's something I'd have have to either get use to or not.

It took awhile for me to decide regular Teles aren't so ugly after all. Now I have 2 plus a Tele bass. I think this one could grow on me after awhile.

It is growing on me, but I'd like to see it in another color. Doubt that will happen, though. :P

I've had an SG for years and also love Teles -- so I'd definitely give this a try. Looks might turn a few heads, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I see that Musicians Friend, Sweetwater and Sam Ash Direct have the Tele DC in stock, but it's not in any of the local big box guitar stores. I like the way it looks and I really want to play one to see if I like it before I buy it. I hope it hits the local Cleveland stores soon. The salesman at GC thought they would not get any in the store. The Sam Ash salesman thought that they would get a few to sell. Time will tell. Has anyone tried one out, or bought one? A review would be great.
