Yeah, April 1st, at that, too. :P That would be rather amusing in some ways, though.

WOW! Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. One thing I like about the Gibson/Epi way of doing things is that their Chinese guitars get shipped to the States where a crew does a setup on it before it goes out to the store for the customer to buy. A Squier seems to go off the assembly line and straight to the store with no setup at all so the playability is hit and miss. Not a big deal for most of us but the line is aimed at new players who are likely to give up on guitar due to sore fingers from lack of a decent setup. Or don't understand why they need to pay a tech $80 to setup a guitar that costs about that much. Last year Guitar Center was selling some Squier models for $79.99 - pretty much what they charge for a setup. I wouldn't buy a new car and expect to have to pay the dealer the same amount again just to make it drivable.

Guitar setup is something that annoys me a bit. You buy a new guitar and you have the tech check out the setup. So what do they do? They check to see if its set up to factory specs, and will make adjustments accordingly, and will charge you a setup fee if you want the setup different to the manufacturers specs. Factory specs? I'm sure that some might agree with me here. To me, I feel that factory specs are quite a bit off. Don't manufacturers realize that players look for good action, and for me, the lower the action the better. Why in the world can't they improve on their specs and adjust the models action to where I'm sure most players would appreciate. JMHO

Cheers

Most players? Yeah, preferences are all over the place, and their are many models with various neck shapes, radius, pups, etc. No way to have one set of specs that would please the majority. The factory specs are closest to what "most" would like, but as with almost anything, the owners prefer to personalize a bit. Add some temperature/humidity changes into the equation and it's not going to be very consistent anyway.

True, but I do think that most players prefer something a bit lower than what factory specs provide. This has been my assessment from other guitar players I have spoken with.

Yes I saw the date of the article, but if it were to happen, isn't that one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

Only if it rains Stratocasters and the city of Corona is turned into a pillar of fire on the same day.

Yeah, usually you have to take anything with the date of April 1st with a grain of salt. :P
