Now that you're gone
The summer's too long
And it seems like the end of my life

That just flat out sucks.

The quintessential "starship trooper" has gone home.

Just heard a minute ago. Sorry to hear this. He was one hell of a bassist. R.I.P. Chris Squire. I guess this means that it's the end of Yes now.

Progressive rock would not have been what it was without Chris Squire.
I don't think there is a single prog band that hasn't been influenced, in one way or another.

He had the unique quality of not only being able to keep the rhythm going and bringing it all home, when three other guys went in different directions, or how to do bass solos unlike what you'd heard before, but also knew the secret of when silence was the right note. We have lost one hell of a player.

+1

On this we can agree!

I always regarded "Yessongs" as their opus magnus of a sort.

It's been a bad year so far for this sort of thing. :( I hope someday they might actually find a cure for cancer.

Wow- I'm chocked  I just came in from a Sting concert in heavy rain just to see this :(
As I remember, Chris' playing was the first time I noticed that the bass was something special .
Since that I've always admired his playing, and I've had the pleasure to hear him live with Yes. This is very sad. RIP , Chris

Chris was a phenomenal player and ridiculously influential. So sad ... Also, I believe he was the only one who played in every version of Yes from its inception until just recently ... : (
