Hey Rebecca, you think your home is trying to kill you, you should come down here for a while.

Snowy, you Aussies are the only people in the world who can truly appreciate your home trying to kill you. Plus you guys understand things like driving distance, oppressively hot weather and sunburn!

I would seriously love to do a blues tour in Australia. In fact, I was actually thinking about that earlier today. Must be a sign. :)

Real good Mexican food isn't so scary. It's the cheap, crappy Mexican food made by people who haven't had the real thing that is frightening. Once you get past a certain number of miles from the Mexican border, it just isn't worth the risk. That's why, homesick though I was, I stayed away from all of the Mexican food I found in the UK.

Yeah the distances here are difficult to get your head around. Here's a scale overlay of the UK and Ireland where you just visited, and Texas and Japan and both islands of NZ in comparison to the State of Western Australia.

Cool story, Becks!

It's strange how the state we love (Texas) tries to kill us with heat, floods, drought, bugs, allergies and Blue Norther's...and yet we keep coming back.

It's the Mexican food that keeps us here!

You left out the snakes and tornadoes.

Rebecca has a facebook page which can be followed. However, I hope she gives this Forum an early heads up as to the next itinerary, if any. There's enough intermix between members such than we can notify each other in case she's going to be in the neighborhood.

There was loads of heads-up for this trip :D
Bit too far North for me (or across the water in the case of Ireland)
Actually, thinking about that comment, it sounds incredibly lazy considering someone came all the way from Texas

Be about the same idea as my driving from South Florida to Texas, I suppose.

Thanks so much for the narrative...You've come a long way from the shy 17 year old hiding behind her hair at her first King of the Blues. It is fun to watch your progress. :)

I will definitely try to keep y'all updated! We had many unforeseen circumstances which caused some of our scheduled itinerary to change, and unfortunately I didn't have consistent access to the web to change some of it in time. At home I try to be better about it.

Currently the Facebook page is probably the best place to stay connected on that (I think there's a link in my signature), or on the Cari & Becks page, cariandbecks.com

To give you guys a super early heads up, it looks like we have some gigs in the works for this Fall in the Texas hill country, Austin and Waco included. I'm working on getting gigs in Houston, of course, and we have a tentative gig scheduled for Tulsa, OK in September. There is also a remote chance that we could be selected for a blues festival in Milan, Italy later this year! That would be very exciting, but I'm not getting my hopes up quite yet.

I have to admit, it sort of does. Everyone there was very surprised by my routine drive times, about 45 minutes each way for wherever I want to go in Houston on average, and two and a half hours each way to Austin once a week. People were surprised that we were driving "all the way" to Skye from Stirling, but that was only a four hour drive. For Texans, that's practically around the corner!

By the way, speaking of the wildlife trying to kill you, last week we had three Alligator attacks near Houston. One of them was fatal. Seriously, I don't understand why people go swimming here.
