Has anyone used this Fender® John Popper Signature Harmonica $99 USD. I have been playing since 1971 and I have seen some expensive harps that are special, chromatic, echo, even the SEYDEL Blues SOLIST PRO goes for $44. Yes the SEYDEL Blues SOLIST PRO 12 STEEL goes for $109, you do get 2 more blow and draw holes though, still I never had tried one as the cost a little over my head. I use Lee Oskar 1910G Harmonica $30 but that is just me. I guess if I had an extra $99 and could not think of a way to use it I would get one to try, as you can't return it or trade it in after one use if it is not to your liking.
I guess if I was still playing professionally, I would need one or many for my collection if I liked them, unfortunately ya cant go into a music shop and just try before you buy, sure you can use the harmonica bellow tester but that just lets you know all the notes work not how it feels, plays, and bends.
I guess for that dollar amount it better be a real good one

As far as I know, they had just recently come out with this Harmonica---I just got the email from Fender.com about a week or so ago on this particular instruments introduction. So you might not find too many people right now that has already had a chance to buy it and play it.

My Harmonica (Blues harp) experience goes back aways, but unfortunately it is only in the key of C...so I would never pay that much for one. I have a Hohner Special 20 and a Blues Harp MS (both made in Germany) that I got for my birthday from friends in different years....and both in the key of C.

Perhaps if I had John Popper's talent, I wouldn't hesitate to get one---but I couldn't even come close. LOL!

Over the years, I've tried a dozen different brands, models and variations of harps--some good, some bad, some "meh"...

I have found that after a particular price point (currently, $35 to $40), they don't get significantly better...they don't last any longer, their tone isn't noticeably better, and the "feel" isn't improved enough to make the investment.

I play Hohner Marine Bands, Hohner Blues Harps and and Lee Oskar harps...mostly Marine Bands lately, but I vacillate depending on my mood.

For a harp to cost twice to three times these particular models, it better have marked improvement...and I have not seen/heard/felt that improvement.

If a person wants marked improvement in their sound, they need to (1) practice, (2) invest in a good microphone, (3) practice some more, (4) get the right amp, (5) check out Lone Wolf Blues Company's harp effects pedals* and (6) practice some more.

After you get above the level of the harps I'm using (noted above), the "improvement" isn't worth the price difference...
